Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who ? O and Aidan
Where ? Cabin
When ? Saturday
What ? O wants something

O had been behaving himself for the most part. He wasn't terribly personable but he wasn't refusing to eat or hurling insults. He cooked for Aidan, let him do the dishes, straightened up every now and then and watched a lot of television. He was in the bathroom, examining the bruises on his face from where he'd been hit. They were mostly healed, just discolored yellow which made it look like he had food stuck on his face sometimes.

He wasn't just looking at himself, though. He definitely had something on his mind. He was stuck here, stuck here for a long time. He'd come to terms with that even if he didn't really understand just how long a long time was. The knowledge made him miserable but he didn't want to be unhappy either, he just needed to find something to keep everything bearable.

Flicking off the bathroom light, O went to find Aidan which wasn't very hard since the house wasn't that big and Aidan was never very far away. "I want a pet," he told him.

Aidan was sprawled out on the sofa, reading a magazine, thumbing through the pages idly. The television was on in the background, but there was nothing much on, and so he wasn't really paying it any mind. Every so often he would glance up, look towards the bathroom, but that was about it. O had been behaving himself lately. Much more than before.

He looked up when the door finally opened, and O came out. His brows jacked up at the surprising request. "A pet?" he echoed. "You mean, like a hamster or something?" He started thinking about that, trying to figure out if it would do any harm or not.

"Yes, that's what I want. I want a hamster." He liked dogs better but it just wouldn't be fair to keep a dog locked in a house and he knew he wouldn't be able to take it out and cats...he definitely wasn't going to get one of those given his name sake. "A hamster and a cage and a hamster ball. May I have one?"

Aidan thought it over. He really couldn't see how that could cause a problem. Hamsters just stayed in cages, or in those balls that they ran around in. He really couldn't see it causing any difficulties.

"Alright," he agreed with a nod of his head. "I'll get you a hamster. And all the trimmings."

"I'll make a list." O didn't trust Aidan to get everything he needed and while he'd never had a hamster before he was pretty sure he knew what they required. He found a piece of paper easily enough and a pencil.

"Alright, sure." Aidan was agreeably to that, as it would make things easier. He really didn't know all the specifics of hamster keeping, what they needed to eat and what not.

He watched O go for the paper and pencil, and tossed his magazine aside, onto the coffee table, where it fell in a disheveled manner. "What brought this on?" he asked curiously.

He looked at him with a distrustful little frown and sat down at the coffee table in the living room to fill out the paper. "I want it," was the answer he had.

By the time he finished his list and held it out to Aidan it had all the normal hamster requirements like cage and bedding, hamster ball, toys, food, treats but also a list of vegetables and fruits. "I want a girl hamster and not a brown one."

Reaching out, Aidan took the list between his fingers. He gave it a brief glance, gaze running down the list of requirements. "Is thie grocery list for the hamster or for you?" he asked with a little bit of a smirk. He took the list and folded it up and tucked it into his pocket so he wouldn't lose it.

"Girl hamster. Okay, I assume the people at the store will be able to tell the difference?" Since he wasn't exactly an expert on sexing rodents.

O sighed as if that were a silly question. "Pet stores keep them separate, if they even carry both sexes, otherwise breeding would get out of control." He found the remote then and sat down to change the channel to the Food Network again.

Aidan shrugged. How was he supposed to know that? "Okay, a girl hamster it is. Not brown. Got it." He could do that. It would be a little price to pay, he figured.

"Anything else you want, for when I go errands running?"

O turned the volume on the television down and turned around to face him again, sitting on his legs. "Yes. Groceries. When are you going? Will you go tonight?" He wanted what he wanted, what was on that list, something to do besides paying attention to and worrying about Aidan.

"I can go tonight. I'll have to knock you out though," Aidan said. He meant with the sleeping pills, of course, not with force. It would be too short notice to get Justin to come, and he didn't want too many people to know about the cabin.

He reached into his pocket and pulled the list out of it, and handed it back to O. "Here, add whatever you want. Well, as long as it's not real expensive stuff."

O had been giving it some thought, simple recipes he remembered, and already had a few things running in his mind that he wanted and he made up a list, a list that extended to the back side of the paper with a handful of items, and then held it back to him. "Here. Don't knock me out, I'll be asleep for eight hours, I'll miss everything."

"I don't yet trust you that much," Aidan told him point blank. "To just leave you here while I'm gone. Who knows what you'll try to do." Although he could leave him bound, and it would be difficult for O to really go anywhere.

"Is there an alternative? Please?" He looked pleading, glancing towards the chair and then twisting around to glance around the room. "Tie me up and lock me in the closet or...or to the chair."

"I don't want to lock you in the closet," Aidan said with a little snort. He shifted his legs off the couch so he could lean forward. "I guess I could leave you tied up. It would be a good test of how much I can trust you." He wanted to give the boy more leniancy, but wasn't yet sure that he could.

O sighed and plopped down on the chair. He didn't want to be on the chair, it was comfortable but he still didn't like it.

Aidan got up and gathered the bindings. He had it down to a science now, and it was easy to secure O, arms and legs and torso to the chair, all with efficient, strong knots of rope and the handcuffs.

When he stood back, he admired his handiwork for a moment, before grabbing the remote and putting it into O's hand. "I won't be too long," he said. "I'll bring back supper. What do you want?" Since O obviously wouldn't be able to cook.

"I don't care." O assured him, determined to not let Aidan get to know him too well. It wasn't like they were friends or anything like that.

"Alright." Aidan shrugged and found his keys and then locked the cabin up before he left.

He was gone for a couple hours, because they weren't exactly close to town, and he had to pick up several things. Groceries were first, as they could just sit in the car, and then he took a trip to the mall. He got a few more clothes for O, and then went and picked up some books at the bookstore. A few for him to read, and a few cookbooks, since O had said that he liked them.

The pet store was his last stop. With the help of the clerk, he chose a white hamster of the female perssasion, plus everything on O's list. A cage with various tubes that lead around and up and over it, a plastic ball, food and shaving and what not. That was all loaded into the car, the hamster chittering away softly.

It was pizza that he decided on for supper, calling ahead from the mall and picking it up on his way. When he arrived back at the cabin, he had to take two trips to get everything in. Once all the bags and hamster supplies and pizza were in the cabin, he went to untie O from his chair.

O took a minute just so he wouldn't appear too eager. "Where do you go?" He asked, trying to calculate just how far away from town they were. He crouched down by the box with the hamster in and opened it up, looking inside. It was definitely the first time he'd smiled since Aidan had kidnapped him, white with little black eyes and pink feet.

"Into town," Aidan said elusively, because he wasn't that stupid. The less that O knew about where they were the better!

While O was accquainting himself with his new furry friend, Aidan went into the kitchen to put away the groceries, loading food into the cupboards and into the fridge. When he was through with that, he brought out a beer and some juice for O, and took the pizza box over to the coffee table.

"Hungry?" he asked.

"In a minute." There were much more important things to do. He looked over all the supplies and found the cage, opening up the box and putting it all together. The hamster needed a home before he needed pizza. He carefully set it all up, filled the food dish and the water bottle and then carefully opened up the box, not wanting to handle it when it was still scared about the move. He left it there, open, inside the cage and then closed the door. "Alright."

Aidan had already helped himself to a slice, and was halfway through it, and a few gulps into his beer by the time O came to join him for pizza. "So did I pick out a good one?" he asked before he took another bite, and licked some grease and pizza sauce from his thumb.

Aidan waved the thanks away. "Don't worry about it. But it looks good? She looks good? They had a lot of brown ones." He reached for a second slice of pizza.

"So what are you going to name her?"

"I think she's fine." O told him because Aidan kept asking and took his pizza and a fork and a knife to the table to sit down and eat. "And I don't know what I'll name her yet. Something." Something that didn't remind him of Stargate.

Aidan gave him a weird look, because who ate pizza with a fork and a knife? Well, apparently O did. He went back to his slice. "Have you had pets before?" he asked curious, conversationally as he chugged back some of his beer.

"I have goldfish back home." O admitted, taking a bite and chewing, glancing at him halfway. "Three of them. I'm not sure if they're still alive though, if anyone remembered to feed them." He didn't think anyone would. His plants were probably all dead too.

O got up again to get himself a soda from the fridge. "Well, you should put a mirror above your door outside, put plants in the bare corners of your room and across from sharp angles, leave your toilet seat down and the door to the bathroom closed, put your bed facing the right direction and never..." he pointed towards him, "never put a mirror in your bedroom."
