Review - Jennifer's Body

Jennifer's Body is a tale of two movies, not of maintext versus subtext but two seperate movies fighting for dominance in which, ultimately, the oft-told (and tired) conventional one wins.

This basically sums up my feelings with the movie.

I enjoyed a lot of it. The actresses were very good--Megan Fox gave a lot to the character that the script didn't--and the visuals were pretty cool, but in the end it was just as disappointing as I expected it to be, if not more. That's a good review, though, without much spoilers, so if you're curious...

DEAR GOD PEOPLE, STOP FEEDING ME. FREAKING ASIANS. THEY TELL YOU YOU IT'S A BLESSING YOU HAVEN'T GAINED WEIGHT LIVING ALONE FOR THREE MONTHS AND THEN THEY MAKE YOU A MOUNTAIN OF FOOD. (Though not gaining weight is already an accomplishment in itself, being I've been eating fast food like crazy lately. YAY STRESS AND NO TIME TO COOK).

To add insult to injury of my food ranting, I also made a 14 lb. turkey yesterday, along with mashed potatoes and stuffing (from scratch - thanks for the encouragement, Erin! I will never buy Stove top crap again...). Mashed potatoes are still plentiful, Yvana somehow ate my whole bowl of gravy, stuffing has almost disappeared (Which I was surprised by) and we did pretty good damage to the turkey. And Matty brought over corn pudding and apple walnut stuffing and awesome cranberry sauce from his fam's dinner yesterday. I am so stealing some for later so I can make a sandwich tomorrow.

And now I am at the living room table. Next to me is Matt, who is working. On the other side of me is my brother, who is also working. And then we are going to dinner. We are sad, workaholic-y, gluttonous people people.

Or maybe that's just me since I'm the only one not running a half marathon on Sunday. OH WELL. I need sustenance to survive finals!

This is one of those "I'm better than you are because of ____" posts.

I got to hang out with [info]dogseesgod today! Are you jealous? YOU SHOULD BE. Also her bf has the patience of a very patient...thing, to put up with all our RP talk. XD

BASICALLY HANNAH IS AWESOME.

Stolen from Katling

You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute. Since when were they working there? Since when were they dating him/her? Since when?" And you wonder how you could have missed all of that seemingly standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification, because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out.

So I was going to write this lovely happy entry today about how this morning, teh boy came in from checking on the dogs across the street and then climbed into bed and was FREEZING COLD and how I was yelling at him for being a sparklepire and then started pondering how the idea of sharing a bed with someone who is always FREEZING COLD and never ever gets warm could ever be even remotely sexy, BUT

I'm too rageful to do that because my editing client (for whom I spent two days working through his ridiculous chemistry paper on chicken selenoenzymes and hepatocytes and blah blah blah it was like dropping my eyes in HCl) refuses to take an hour out of his weekend to chat with me about the editing suggestions like he agreed to do before he sent me his paper because he has to "prepare to examination."

I e-mailed my professor and he was like, "No, you have to chat with this guy or else you fail" so I'm kind of irate right now and hating people.

Awww.

I had a dream last night two people wanted to hold James Proudstar at mh.

I am so disappointed to wake up and find that's not the case.

Life is quieter when Mom doesn't have five pies and sixty rolls to bake. But I'm still going to have a dang hard time keeping up with my tags, I think.

It's really interesting to see the difference between what Teddy and Victoire want. Or what they think they should be doing to prepare for the baby. Teddy's focused on working hard to make money, and doing his part to provide. He doesn't understand the point of the "baby things," and he doesn't know what Victoire wants, so he's leaving that to her for the most part - although I think he said something a couple months ago about having found curtains, but he obviously didn't show them to her. Maybe he went over to talk to her about them and found she'd already bought something completely different, so he was like, well, it was apparently the wrong choice anyway, so I'd better just stay out of it.

I have heard that men (sometimes) work long hours to show their love, because that work means more money for their families. It seems like that's what Teddy's doing here. And I intended to have him go through a bit of "I'm not ready for this" panic, partly to understand his father better and partly because, well, he's only twenty-five. Of course he's panicking about being tied down, and worried he's not good enough to be a husband and father (even though he has always wanted that... eventually). But it's interesting to see both sides and understand both sides.

Not too bad! I'm not sure yet if I'll reach 30,000 at my not THY stuff, but we'll see! Either way, it's been a pretty good month, I must say.

Today I need to go have my car inspected by the insurance company and I suppose I should try to get started on homework for Monday. But for now, I've had leftovers and am watching Hercules and plan to take it easy. Hooray!

Also, thanksgiving yesterday was a lot better than I thought it would be. Except then I fell asleep far far too early last night. It made me sad.

I finished NaNo this morning. The book isn't complete by any stretch of the imagination, but I hit the 50k and I'll keep on going until it's done. I have a small amount of faith in myself that I haven't had in a long time where my writing's concerned.

As for my unintentional run at RPWriMo, if I count Draco's app and all, I'm fairly certain I smashed through 30k days ago. Quite possibly even without the opus of Draco.

I'm so tired, but I feel accomplished. Now I'm going to go fight some Black Friday crowds. Because THAT is so sane, right?

... yeah, for those who, like me, have been squinting suspiciously at the Muppets Bohemian Rhapsody and delaying playing it until it trips them up?

Watch it. It sure brightens things up!
