"The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle", one of the 56 short Sherlock Holmes stories
"The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle", one of the 56 short Sherlock Holmes stories written by British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is the seventh story of twelve in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. The story was first published in Strand Magazine in January 1892

The Granada TV version with Jeremy Brett is faithful to the original, except that it has — after Ryder flees to the Continent — Holmes and Watson making their way to the authorities, which leads to Horner being freed in time for Christmas with his wife and children. The TV version also shows Holmes keeping the stone, while in the original story Holmes sends a line to the Countess that he has it.
