WHO sunyoung 'sunny' dupont and paris 'morgan' bessette
WHERE church of the immaculate heart/catacombs
WHEN tuesday, jan 31st, noonish
RATING pg-13 for most likely vile language
SUMMARY sunny is about to blow morgan's MIND
STATUS incomplete

Placing trust in other people is something Sunny does not do. They simply don't know how to do things properly. She doesn't trust that Brady, of all things, knows whether or not Luz will read the book. Promises meant a great deal of nothing nothing to Sunny. Breaking them was like breathing - easy. If that frizzed out, incoherent, wannabe Claudia punk read the book, she'd be getting a fierce in lesson in learning her place. She schemed all the ways she could make it happen as she waited for 'That Guy I Assaulted' in the Church of the Immaculate Heart.

How disappointing that Morgan seemed to have no clue what he was. And what's worse - what if he wasn't the Baron's son? A girl can only take so much disappointment in one day. Her head tilted to toss her hair back from her face, impatient. Being punctual wasn't even something she did for Simon. If Morgan had the gall to be late- or worse, stand her up- he'd be paying for it. So many events and people have made Sunny feel small lately. It would be downright refreshing to simply hurt someone else for a while.

"Where are you?" she frowned at the air, and then at her phone. No messages. Didn't people normal people know anything about arriving ten minutes early anywhere? Her actions were always the exception to the rule, why couldn't everyone else just realise that?

He didn't want to go. There was no real reason to go. And really, it'd be more satisfying over all to lie in bed and watch the clock tick past noon, knowing that somewhere that little bitch was fuming at being stood up. It'd serve her right. The best fucking coffee in the world wasn't worth the headache he suspected she'd give him. Or the stomachache, if what she said was true. Morgan had snorted doubtfully to himself, sprawled across his couch, but morbid curiosity coupled with suspicion and a dash of spite pulled him to his feet. He'd showered, dressed for January, and gone out the door.

New York in winter was fucking cold. His hands were buried deep in his jacket, hood pulled up over his baseball cap. His usual scowl was even scowlier thanks to the bite of the wind, and it only scrunched further when he stepped inside the (moderately warmer) Church and saw the barbie doll waiting for him. Strange she didn't burst into flame inside a church. Mouth set to one side, he was satisfied at least that his height let him look down his nose at her. "You're early."

Ah, finally. The little zap of demi-recognition told him he'd arrived before his voice sounded. She gave a pointed glance to her phone and ignored him the first few moments he stood there, taking her time to put it away with delicate effort. Once that was done, her gaze shot up and down him to size him up. "And you're clueless, little man, so maybe you should start being nicer," she grinned with all teeth showing, voice chipper and bright. "Or you're about to be up shit creek without a paddle."

What had he wanted from her? Coffee, right. "Bet you don't know what's under this floor, tough guy." A kitten heel stomped the ground beneath it before she turned and waved for him to follow. She didn't look back to check if he followed. His curiosity had brought him all the way to the church. He'd follow her to the basement.

"Better be a fucking Starbucks," Morgan muttered, watching her stroll off before he forced himself into motion after her. There was still the nagging thought that he was being played, that this was some elaborate practical joke and he'd be sorry later for ever giving her any of his time, but what the fuck else did he have to do at noon on a Tuesday? Besides sleep. Really, sleep was probably the better option.

"I'm not into any weird pagan shit, if that's what you're selling," he called after her, brow furrowing the further they went. Were you allowed to go into a church's basement? Wasn't that off-limits? Didn't they keep dead people there? Yep, sleep was starting to really look like it'd been the smarter option.

"I think your dad is the one that's into souls, honey, not me," she sang over her shoulder as they trudged on towards the Catacomb's entrance. Please, let that be right. She hadn't told Simon or Jackson about the man trailing her yet on the off-chance she'd turn out to be wrong. She was wrong so rarely, obviously, that when it happened it was extra frustration. For Morgan's sake, she hoped she was right.

Sunny stopped suddenly and glanced around for any onlookers, then leaned down and hit the floor just right. To a normal person, the entrance appeared only as a wine cellar. To those with divine blood, it was the entrance to a city beneath the city. Few demi-gods milled around at this time of day, but all of them moving with purpose. She turned to face where he'd emerge from when she got to level ground and backed up a few steps to witness his reaction with a grand sweep of her hand. "Ta-da."

Souls. Had she said souls? Morgan's mouth wrinkled into an even sourer line, hands burrowed deep in the pockets of his sweatshirt. Pretty soon some priest was going to catch them and toss them out and make them eat a cracker in penance, or whatever it was Catholics did. At least he could say in good conscience that their little trip into the basement was entirely the she-devil's doing and not his fault at all.

He was pretty pleased with the image of her face all bunched up in indignation at being caught when she opened up a hole in the floor and Morgan's thoughts jammed abruptly. His mouth opened; no sound came out. Very slowly, he took a hand from his sweatshirt, pointed at the opening, made to speak again, and still said nothing. She changed her haircolor. She opened up a- what was this? Interdimensional portal? Hogsmeade? And she'd just left him there.

Too frustrated and indignant to consider any potential danger, Morgan climbed down after her with grit teeth. Again, he glared at her wordlessly, mouth moving over possible (angry) responses. 'Why are we in Narnia?' 'I fucking knew I was a wizard.' Or, his favorite, 'I really fucking hate you.' Instead, all he spluttered was a furious, "What the fuck!?"

"Aw, how cute are you?" she cooed and pet his arm soothingly. A very muscled arm, she noticed. That would come in handy later, if she could wrap him around her finger. He was full of spit and vinegar, but everyone had a price. Maybe he wasn't a match for Ari, but it would be fun to see him try to deck him. Maybe she'd put it on youtube.

"Let's get one thing straight before we go any further, okay, demi-god?" Sunny held one finger in the air. "Because that's what you are. And first? Your dad is an exile. Don't tell people about him." Another finger joined the first. "You don't trust anyone besides me." A third. "Stay away from the Warrior's Guild. Kaneda is a funsponge. Okay?"

Smiling, she started off again for Hip's Place before he had a chance to reply. "You still want that coffee? You ever met a satyr before, by the way?"

That was about ten weird things out of her mouth too many; he stayed where he was, unmoving, open-mouthed and angry. Satyr? Demi-God? Warrior's Guild? Maybe this was one of those hidden camera shows. Ashton Kutcher would jump out and laugh at him and then he could go home and fume while the video got thousands of hits on YouTube.

Reluctantly, his eyes slid over his new surroundings. It was a damn elaborate hoax, if it was one. Bigger than a movie set. All this to fool one person? His curiosity in her abilities, in his own, still didn't match up to the enormity of this sudden relocation. Slowly, like a train grinding up to a reluctant start, Morgan followed after Sunny, half-jogging a few steps until he fell into pace beside her. "Hold up. Demi-god?" Yep, that sounded about as stupid coming out of his mouth as he'd expected it to.

Yep, that sounded stupider coming out of his mouth than she'd expected it to. She laughed openly at his reaction and pat his arm again. "Don't worry, I'll tell you everything you need to know."

How cute was he? Baron Samedi's clueless spawn. A problem and an opportunity all in one. She'd have to be very careful with what she told him and how she appealed to other people around him. His trust was vital, as was his skill and muscle. Sunny smirked up at him and skipped ahead to pull open the door to Hip's. "You see, honey," she started in purring tones, waving him in with a bow, "when a God and a human love each other very, very much..."
