SUMMARY Mini-log: Luz and the Sperm Donor
STATUS Complete
Luz had woken up in the hospital to find the morning sun hidden by dark, gray clouds. The clouds had continued to hide the sun, basking the city in a still darkness throughout the day, so Luz was not as excited to go home as she'd thought she'd be. She had been looking forward to feeling the sun on her face, but just found gray and occasional droplets of rain. But still, going back to her apartment was awesome. She could have gone home days ago, but for appearances sake made only a 'very quick' recovery instead of a 'full recovery in 24 hours.' Which would probably otherwise be known as a 'medical miracle' and Gus' newspaper would have gotten a call.
Leaving the hospital and getting back to her apartment had been stressful, though. Luz was apparently goddamn popular. Her parents and sister, her boyfriend, Ari and Gus, various other Greek cousins, and then Anya and Lydia (and Otis.) Luz had felt very popular, but tensions had been a little high. Not everyone had been there at once, but even getting her home felt, to Luz, like being the rope in a tug of war. Eeeeeeveryone wanted to take care of Luz. When she was fine. She wasn't even hurt anymore! And it had been hard, because Luz felt like she had to choose. She loved everyone, so much, she was adult enough to admit that. And it was true, she had asked her mom for a hug every now and then in the hospital, adults hug their mommies, that's fine! But she did just kind of want Brady around, but she couldn't say that, because it involved telling her parents to go home. It was like choosing, and Luz didn't want to do that.
She'd gotten to a point where she didn't want to hurt people's feelings.
So Luz had basically sent everyone home. Or, rather, she sent her parents and Marielos (who was now over a month old and doing well) home, and sent Brady out for ice cream, from a specific place... on another island. Just so she could have some time to herself. There was no getting rid of Anya and Lydia, of course, they lived there, so Luz just sort of went into her room and closed the door until Brady got back. She missed her room, not that she'd been living in it long. She had her nice large bed with the yellow comforter. All new desk and chair with her laptop on it (how long had it been since she'd checked the G-Net?)
She had a dull, gray light coming through her window, enough that she had to turn her lamp on to really get any light. Luz didn't want to lie down on the bed, she'd had enough of that, so she just stood by her window, looking up at the gray sky. For a moment Luz closed her eyes.
