Gus trolls Simon, Simon trolls back
Who: Gus Tilki and Simon Renaud
Where: IDK, some club
When: 7 April 2012 (Pre-dated)
What: Gus and Simon have a confrontation
Rating: PG-13 I think considering it is Gus
Status: Complete

Gus actually got up early on Saturday for some odd reason and ended up writing about 20 odd pages throughout the morning. Due to being super productive, Gus took a mid-afternoon nap and decided to go out dancing. It had been a couple of weeks because he had either been writing or chilling around the apartment. Tonight, he felt he deserved to be a little hedonistic. Who cares Easter was this weekend? Not that he would be celebrating it because of his Orthodox upbringing.

Actually the fact it was Easter AND Passover weekend really dwindled the attendance of the Babylon, a gay bar, a place Gus went on occasion. It was surprising in one way and not so much if you thought about. Gus saw some people he recognized from middle school and he was glad they didn't recognize him because he was sure they were a couple of his bullies. Although, it did sort of amuse him to find they were out.

Gus mingled among the crowd after he got himself a beer and did some dancing. He did recognize a few people he met in other clubs or in weird other places. Then he saw a guy he hadn't seen in a while. He actually was worried on what happened. He tried to track him down calling out, "Steffan!" He did get momentarily distracted as he felt the demi-god spark as he brushed by a certain someone, lifting a condom and a twenty unnoticed at first until he realized there was a bit difficulty in it. Feeling embarrassed, he stuffed them quickly into his pocket. He'll figure it out later.

He didn't look back because he wanted to catch the guy but apparently his momentary distraction caused him to lose Steffan, "Damnit..." he commented as he took a swig of beer. Then he looked back slightly over his shoulder to realize the demi god he had just stolen from was Simon. Of course. Of. Course. It would be him.

Gus is protesting too much. If he rolls his eyes once more, they may be in danger of flying straight out of his silly head. Simon knows it was Gus. He knows, and it's just shameful that Gus can't be a man and own up to it. He wonders how it is that the moron even has any friends with the way he treats other people. This isn't the first time that Gus has caused harm - even if this time it's minor - to another and tried to hide it. It's $20, which to Simon isn't that much, but the principle aggravates him. The fact that Gus has no principles just seems... When so many people have looked down on him for his relationship to Nico and to Hecate... the idea that one of his tormenters regularly behaves this way without repercussion in any form is just infuriating.

So Gus may attempt to flee in the crowd, but Simon is not going to let things go that easily. Admittedly, Gus gets a little head start, so he is not right behind the man. His rage and his tipsiness marry in the most awkward way here, because if he realized where Gus was going, he'd just leave it. It isn't worth it to him to trigger an episode. Or it wouldn't be. But he has entirely forgotten the fact that up on the roof, the moonlight will be a lot stronger than it would be down on the street anyway, and that's exactly where Gus is going... and oh yeah, it's a cloudless night for this full moon. He manages to push a few people away as he arrives upon the roof, storming over to Gus. It's darker up here... lit only by a few smaller, lower lights to give it the kind of atmosphere that's good for... well, making out, as a lot of people are doing right now.

It also means that the moon light, though thinned by the city's light pollution, is washing over everything, including Gus's face. "Stop." Simon makes a rough grab for his elbow, meaning for it to sting, but then he realizes - just a moment too late - that this is a very bad situation. If he has succeeded in grabbing Gus, his hold loosens. If not, his hand just drops to his side entirely. His face goes slack and pale, pupils obscuring iris in an unblinking, empty stare. Something mumbled - just quiet enough to disappear under the drone of conversation around them - escapes him.

Gus figured he was screwed either way. Even if he apologized. Even if he said it was an accident and came clean. He knew Simon would turn it around and lay blame at his feet. So since Gus knew that he couldn't win, he would continue to drag this out as far as he could. There would be no way in hell he would return what he stole to Simon. Never.

For a moment, Gus figured he had escaped Simon. Perhaps he should have just portalled home by now but no. He wouldn't let Simon ruin his evening. It was a great day up until this point. However, he should have figured things were much easier this way.

Then, he stiffened a little when Simon grabbed his elbow. Crap, he needed to work faster. He really should have portaled home. Of course, he thought Simon was going to give him an amusing set of ears or something, despite the nagging advice he got from Luz in the back of his mind. Gus had no idea about Simon's curse. Sure, he heard rumors. But he never witnessed it.

For a moment, the stare caused a smirk to play at his face, "And you think you're trying to be scary? Really?" He pulled away and decided to focus on something else, like the door way across the garden...

A soft little groan escapes him, and he sags just a little, looking none too steady on his feet. He blinks once - very slowly - and then speaks in a deadpan, emotionless voice, "One died so the other survives." He loses his balance, taking a stumbling step towards Gus, like he might even fall, but manages to collect himself. He continues to stare at Gus with that flat, unblinking expression. "He holds himself in, holds himself... He's holding in... A shade... He holds the ghost, the ghost holds him..." He narrows his eyes just a little.

"The shade remains. Holding and holding and holding and holding... He doesn't leg to... And the shadow falls and falls all over his face... There. There. And he and the shade and he... The ghost, the survivor, the prison... He has built it around... it is all around him... where he is locked in with the ghost... and what he caused... He is the catalyst. He is haunted... Haunted..." Simon makes a rough sound in the back of his throat, abruptly squeezing his eyes shut and putting his hands to his head. "No, no..." he moans softly to himself.

And oh yeah, by now? They definitely have an audience.

Simon stumbles backwards, eyes still shut, hands still clutched in his hair, and shaking his head violently. He runs into someone and opens his eyes, turning to look over his shoulder at a handsome blonde in his late 30s. Expression vacillating between terror and blankness, Simon begins to intone: "The child. The child he abandoned. Disgust... And he is filled with her sha--"

"What the fuck?" the tall, blonde man suddenly snarls, making a grab for Simon.

And then Simon spoke in gibberish. Gus ended up smiling an uneasy smile. It was usually what he did when he should be serious. Call it a coping mechanism. It would be ironic as Simon zoned in on the issue. Or course, it didn't make much sense to Gus at the time. What was this talk about the ghost and the survivor? Whatever. Simon is clearly trying to freak him out. It even worked a little.

"Yeah, whatever, Renauld..." Gus chuckled a little as he rolled his eyes. Then, Gus's thought that Simon had been messing with him sort of left his mind when Simon said something weird to someone else in that same way he had discussed with Gus.

As a potential confrontation occurred in front of him, Gus felt he sort of had a conundrum. Should he let Simon get the crap beaten out of him when he's all out of sorts, give him what he needed? Or should he take the high road? It was very hard. Very, very hard.

"Sorry about my cousin!" he called to the blond. Only for you, Luz. Only for you. he thought. "When he drinks a lot he says weird things. You know how some people get all philosophical? Well, he talks cryptically..." He grabbed onto Simon's wrist if able to pull him away. Yep, he's pushing Simon through the door to another door to get him out of here.

Simon is, of course, oblivious to the fact that talking about a stranger fathering an illegitimate kid is about to get him punched. He just keeps staring at the man blankly. "Because she..." he starts to say, but whatever the mother of the child has done or not done or whatever is not finished, because Gus grabs him instead. He is pulled off-balance by it and stumbles back into Gus. It's Gus's turn to once again be stared at in that vacant way.

"He stayed behind. He stayed. He is there forever. Forever and ever and ever, ever, ever... But his shadow is on you. It covers. You are covered... And the dog... Don't let it come near...! No... No... I don't want it...!" he starts to babble up until the point he's pushed through the door out of the moonlight. He lets out another gurgling little moan, pressing his palms to his eyes. The stairwell is dark, lit up by a red light - the exact location presently unseen. Simon slumps a little, gripping the bannister and pressing his face to the wall.

Retourne, retourne, retourne, retourne, he thinks to himself, grappling with his mind. There are no ghosts or multi-headed dogs or discarded children here. That's not real. It's just a vision. It's not real. He's safe. But for the moment, he's not able to do anything but try to cling to his sense of sanity. "Daisuke," he mutters. "I need Daisuke..." Where is his phone? In his jacket pocket at coat check. Damnit.

"He gonna be okay?" a young guy with bright green eyes asks Gus as he passes by with a muscular, slightly overly tanned friend.

It was here Gus picked up what Simon was talking about. He stopped in his tracks and gave Simon a dark look, his eyes seemed to almost look sad. Granted, it didn't hurt as much as it did before he spoke to Brady about it that one time but the topic still felt raw and to hear Simon of all people talk about it really felt like a kick in the balls.

When they were out of the way of the moonlight, Gus had to wonder if Simon was joking. How could Simon know that? And why was he being creepy? Of course, as Simon seemed to snap out of his thing or whatever it was, Gus could figure Simon seemed distraught. Perhaps, it was like his kleptomania and Simon could not help it.

Gus had no real idea who Daisuke was. He heard rumors about the uptight son of Amaterasu and how he seemed to spend a lot of time with Simon... an odd match, that is for sure.

He took a deep breath to make some comment to Simon before the green-eyed man that Gus admittedly did check out came by, "Yeah, I'm sure he's okay. My cousin had a little too much to drink, so I'm bringing him home."

He turned back to Simon and held onto Simon's wrist, "I have no idea what the fuck that was..." he said quietly.

Simon looks up as Gus grabs his wrist, but remains crouching. He releases the bannister with that hand, though. He just stares at Gus with a dull, distant expression. "Retourne," he mumbles to himself. "Retourne." It seems like he doesn't even seem to understand that Gus is talking to him. His face remains a ghostly white, his eyes dark and dilated. "Daisuke," he says, still in that slurred, mumbled tone. "I need Daisuke." Because he's having a hard time telling himself that the shadows within the stairwell aren't ghosts of whoever Gus was with with the dog. Ugh, the dog. Don't think about the dog, he tells himself.

"I need Daisuke," he says more urgently, pressing his face to the wall and squeezing his eyes shut. This is really bad, and he really doesn't want to be doing this with Gus... He needs to get to Daisuke, because Daisuke can help him. He suddenly stands up, jerking away, and nearly trips on the first step, but catches himself, hurrying towards the front of the club where his phone hopefully is yet sitting safe in the pocket of his jacket...

Gus blinked a few times as Simon continued to cry out for this Daisuke. It was a state he never thought Simon was capable of. Being completely vulnerable.

Gus does not chase after Simon. He seemed more with it and no one can say he didn't try at least.

"I need a beer... " he muttered.
