Who: Tessa, ? What: Tessa sits by the beach, relaxing. Where: XMI Campus, by the ocean When: Around sundown, Friday night
When she had first come to XMI, Tessa had spent hours trying to find the perfect spot, a quiet area by the sea where she could relax and gather her thoughts. The eternal din of her mind, and the background hum of people's vague thoughts was enough to drive anyone insane. She could never quite silence herself entirely, but here, she found herself able to slow the workings of her mind a little bit, to let go of idle thoughts and truly relax. Sometimes, especially when it was warmer, she would hike up her skirt or pants, take off her shoes and go splash in the water.
It was of the few times when she could honestly feel like the same person who had come to America so long ago, a carefree girl. It was a little chilly that day for splashing about in the water, but she sat near the water's edge, staring out at the Pacific Ocean quietly. She could, and often did, just sit there for a few hours. In a life full of the chaotic din of her thoughts, other people's thoughts and work, she found it almost impossibly joyous to simply sit and watch the sun go down.
To say that this was her 'happy place' sounded incredibly trite. But if anywhere was, it was here, at the far end of the great North American continent, with the only sound the lapping of the ocean waves against the beach and the occasional bird. |

[Dec. 2nd, 2009|10:09 pm] |
What: Elisabeth arriving to campus Who: Lizzie, Adam, Ian and whoever else wanders by Where: Right outside school (at the moment)
Lizzie hurried up toward the school entrance, making a futile effort to smooth out the wrinkles in her skirt that had formed as she drove to the ferry. She quickly ran her fingers through her short, dark hair and congratulated herself on deciding not to fuss with makeup this morning. She had a feeling it'd have smeared; it was that kind of day. Picking up her phone, the short, somewhat chubby young woman checked the time as she stopped by the entrance door. Great, two minutes early. She'd made it.
Now, who was it she was supposed to meet? A quick consultation of her notebook came up with the names Adam Berkowitz - that's right, that'd be her boss - and someone called Ian Fitzgibbon who'd apparently help her get keys, find her way around the place and such. She looked up, but didn't see anyone approaching just yet. Phew, a few seconds to relax. Leaning back against the wall, Lizzie closed her eyes for a moment and rolled her shoulders to loosen them up. The adjustment of stress hormones was so ingrained by now, the woman almost didn't realize she was doing it. Moments later she felt much better, having given herself a little chemical boost. Opening her eyes again, she looked out over the grounds and waited. |

Who: Adam and Ben When: Early afternoon Where: Restaurant in LA What: Grabbing a bite to eat and general geekery
Adam was running a little late for his late lunch with Ben. The rabbi, who'd gone to seminary with both of Adam's grandfathers back east, pulled him aside to ask after his grandmother. Halfway through the conversation, two things were obvious to him. The man was still clearly harboring romantic interest in his bubbeh after fifty some years and was trying to get Adam to lure her out for a visit so he could 'catch up with her'. Which probably meant trying to make good on those harbored feelings. He promised to make the suggestion after listening to the man praise his grandmother for twenty minutes.
Thelma Himmelfarb had apparently always made an impression on people.
He'd rushed the appointed place, hoping Ben hadn't been waiting on him too long. The man was worse about getting out than he was. Which was probably odd, since neither was really antisocial. Occupational hazard of their given professions, he supposed.
"Hey, Ben," he said as he spotted the older man and settled down across from him. He was still dressed for temple, in a dark suit and tie complete with a black suede yarmulke pinned in place. While his father would have disapproved, he generally only wore his kippah on Shabbat or other holy days. It was inconvenient and really not sterile enough to be worn to work, so he figured the Almighty would understand. "I hope you haven't been waiting long." |

Who: Kevin and Open Where: Boys' Dorm Lounge When: Late Morning What: Waking the sleeping monster lad
Kevin had spent the last two days enjoying the American holiday called Thanksgiving. Which mostly consisted on gorging yourself on food and then complaining about eating too much. And watching Christmas parades on TV while stuffing yourself silly.
He'd been watching an all night horror movie marathon in the dorm lounge and fallen asleep sometime during the wee hours of the morning. Now he was still sleeping, and was dreaming. Which for Kevin, could be an interesting experience. While he didn't often morph completely in his sleep (unless he was having a nightmare), he did go through fluxes of partial shifting when having a vivid dream.
Like now. It was a nice dream. First he was running through a field chasing butterflies as a hellhound, then he was soaring through the skies as a dragon above a vast forest, and finally swimming through the ocean depths as a kraken.
Which left him with tentacles instead of arms, waving wildly about as if he were swimming. Until one collided with someone or something. And stuck. Oops |

Who: Adam and Naiya When: Evening Where: Boardwalk in LA somewhere
It'd been a nice evening, as far as Adam was concerned. They'd had dinner at an Italian place he'd discovered last year. Italian food was one of his favorites, since they usually had a good assortment of vegetarian and fish dishes. Which meant he could have whatever he wanted for dessert.
The movie had been pretty good and all in all, it had been one of the best dates he'd ever been on. A lot of the pressure had been taken off, since he didn't have to explain anything to Naiya about his career or his mutation. That had made a lot dates awkward. Especially the ones who lost interest in him when they found out what his mutation was.
One of them even asked him if he was gay, apparently based on his mutation and that he hadn't tried to put the moves on her. That had been a fun evening.
"You want to go for a walk?" he asked Naiya as they left the movie theater. "It's a nice night out." |

Who: Sam & Dorcas Where: Medlab When: Friday, October 23rd, early evening What: Dinner for Sam.
She was feeling guilty and she knew it... And she knew that's exactly why she'd made dinner for Sam. And sent him an MP3 player with music and cookies before. But now she could visit him when he was awake and Dorcas had made sure to check before heading down. And that's how she found herself settling in next to Sam's bed after making sure that he was decent or whatever. Did guys have a 'decent' mode or was it just as long as they had pants on? "Hi... I brought you some food," she was like a little food goddess lately or something, "H-how're you feeling?" Yeah, she wasn't even looking at him, holding on to the tupperware. |

Monday --
Retractions have been posted on both newspaper and television. They are not headlines, usually found on page two or three like most retractions.
Mutants acquitted of all charges at rally. Doctored video was submitted to many media sources to show students at Xavier Memorial to be attacking the rally and performing dangerous behaviors. Other videos and information have now surfaced showing that these mutants were actually fighting to protect the civilian population on both sides. As always -YNews- tries to print the truth but these mistakes do happen. |

| Hello There |
[Oct. 17th, 2009|10:55 pm] |
Who: Dorcas & Pete Where: Pete's dorm What: Cookies and costume talk When: October 17th, Early evening Warnings: None
Dorcas needed a distraction. She'd sent off her little package to Sam in the medical unit but it didn't really help her desire to go down there and visit every half an hour and Dr. Berkowitz was getting really annoyed with her so... Distraction. Who could she depend on for a distraction? Well, Pete'd been pretty good at it with the Frankenstein's monster talk so...
So she'd found out his dorm and knocked on the door. Accompanying her was the smell of pot roast and cookies. Yes, she had brought him something to eat. Of course, she'd also brought her own because eating alone was just kind of depressing and really, who needed depressing at the moment.

[Oct. 17th, 2009|06:26 pm] |
Who: Nico & Open Where: Sitting on the shoreline When: Mid-afternoon, October 17th What: Currently, thinking. Warnings: Nico has a dirty mouth that can't be cleaned with gum.
It was kind of amazing to Nico the damage that the media could do. It wasn't that he was surprised - just amazed. Every single time someone was destroyed through a newsfeed it was fascinating. Internally, he realized it was a very good idea that he hadn't gone even though he had been surprisingly curious but... If he'd gone, then there would've been far more damage done if he'd gotten messed with. He was thankful and that kind of amazed him as well.
He fell back against the sand, hooded jacket keeping him from getting any sand in his hair. Focusing on the peace, he let the ocean waves lull him into a sense of serenity. This was nice. He liked this. The ocean was cool... And it didn't seem like there was anyone around to screw it up for him. Hurray! |
