CHARACTERS: Scarlet Witch & Urge.
DATE/TIME: Thursday, February 3rd, 2011.
LOCATION: Xavier's; Urge's Office.
TOPIC: Time for a change.
STATUS: Incomplete.
RATING: PG.
TAGGED?: Yes.
LOCKED?: Yes.

It had been a little over a month since 'the incident' and Wanda was (slowly) regaining her freedoms. She'd spent two weeks under carefully monitored 'house arrest' in her own living quarters, but once Professor Xavier was satisfied that she didn't intend on doing further damage (to either herself or anyone else), he'd allowed her to leave her room - as long as that time spent outside of her room was supervised, of course. She hadn't quite earned back enough trust to go about her daily routine alone, but she'd made her peace with that. Besides, she'd been enjoying the companionship and the conversations with those who had been assigned to watch over her. Not all of them had treated her poorly (even though she knew she was perfectly deserving of such treatment), but she knew it had (mostly) been at the Professor's insistence.

Today, however, was her weekly session with Dr. Russell Holden. Though, instead of remaining within her room, she'd been allowed to have this session in the good doctor's office. It was well-lit and pleasantly warm - not that her room wasn't, but having spent so much time cooped up in there, it had become a rather dreary place, regardless. As the redheaded gypsy took a seat on one of the leather-bound chairs in front of Russ' desk, she gave the man a small smile and crossed her legs beneath her brown, velvet skirt. While her spirits were certainly higher than they had been in previous weeks, Wanda knew that there were still changes to be made and things she must to do, before she (and the others) could move on and make true peace with the situation she'd so recklessly caused.

"So," she began, "I've been thinking it's time I.... apologize." Scarlet Witch had been avoiding the stares of the parents she'd affected for weeks and though she was afraid of what their responses (or actions) may be, she felt it was time to 'bury the hatchet', so to speak. Wanda's chin rose and her dark gaze met with the therapist's, trying to gauge his expression. He'd told her (weeks ago) that this was a decision she'd had to come on her own, but she didn't know if she was acting prematurely or not. "Do you think this is the right time?"

"It's right when you think it is." Russ said with a cheeky smile. He wasn't being evasive, it was the truth. If Wanda felt it was the right time to try and make amends, then it probably was. No one could force her to be sincere, it was up to her to put in the effort. Much like any person in recovery, she'd admitted she had a problem, then been made to understand the impact of her behavior and finally was ready to say she was sorry. Russ was feeling a great amount of pride in his patient at the moment, which probably slipped out in a more natural smile.

Urge monitored Wanda's emotions as she spoke, making sure not to interfere with her own feelings. The Scarlet Witch had made a remarkable amount of progress in the last few weeks. Extraordinarily, by some peoples’ opinions. But ironically, part of the factor probably was that Scarlet Witch was still desperate for a family. And hopefully had realized her obsession was pushing her further away from her goal. She would need to become a trustworthy member of society again before her dreams of a loving family was realized. "I'm proud of you, Wanda." Russ said as he placed his notepad on the desk and set his pen next to it. "I can really tell this means a lot to you." It didn't take much of his concentration to tell her remorse was genuine.

"So, did you have a plan of action? Perhaps we can schedule some things here…?" Urge said, then moved to stand from his desk chair. The mansion didn't need another 'random apology tour'. The school had seen too many of those. Besides, if Russ was around, he could make sure everything stayed positive. However, many of the parents had adjusted well to the change in their children. But that was what X-Men did; they adapted.

Russell's cheeky smile caused an upturn to Wanda's own lips. Over the last few weeks, she'd grown quite fond of the empath. He'd been more understanding and sympathetic than she deserved, but that probably the reason why she liked him so; he'd given her a chance when no one else would have, or should have, for that matter. Dr. Holden was a true friend and wonderful human being, and the Scarlet Witch couldn't have been more thankful to have his support. Truth be told, he was probably the main (or sole) reason why she'd been making such quick and remarkable recovery.

"I'm proud of you, Wanda."

Those words had struck a chord. Those words stirred something deep within the Witch's very being. No one (aside from her adoptive parents) had ever said they were proud of her - not even Pietro. Though, she suspected the reason for that was because he probably thought it was a given, considering their twin-bond. Magneto had never came close to uttering anything remotely close to a compliment to his children, but she had begun to realize that she'd probably never hear such sentiments from the great Master of Magnetism. "Thank you," she said, sincerely. "You have no idea how much those words mean to me.... coming from you."

This did mean a lot to her. Wanda wanted nothing more than to put this whole incident behind her and move on. Of course, she knew that she still had a ways to travel. There were apologizes she needed to make and she had to find some sense of inner peace with herself, before she'd be able to do anything - moving on or otherwise.

"I'm not sure," she'd answered, slowly, partially bewildered by the question he'd asked. Despite having so much time to think about her actions, she'd never once thought of how and where she should apologize. Nothing seemed appropriate, but she'd have to do it somehow. "I haven't really thought about it, to be honest." But the thought of apologizing with Urge nearby did sound like the best option, by far.

His words had stirred her, positively, and for that he was glad. When a sane person made a mistake, they usually ended up feeling remorseful about it. Typically, people punished themselves more than anyone else did, depending on the mistake. He knew Wanda had beat herself up a lot for what had happened, and he was happy she had come through that tunnel of self-loathing in one piece. Many people spiraled down and never got out. "You’re welcome, I don't give them out freely." Russ said as he moved around his desk and sat in the leather seat adjacent to Wanda's. "You’re a healthy, and I think, happier woman, and the credit for that lies mostly on you. I hope you remember that."

Urge smiled as he thought on her problem; it was actually a common one. Most people didn't really think things like this through. They spent so much time worried about what they were going to say and how the other person was going to react, they didn't think about the details. Well, in this case, the devil was in the details, so to speak. "I think you should write to them, each set of parents. Simple e-mails about how you want to talk to them and I'll give you some days I'm available. You can give them the list and they can get with me about what works for them. We can do the meetings here, or outside, whatever everyone is comfortable with," Urge explained. It was much nicer to do something like this as opposed to ambushing people during their days. "This is the hard part Wanda, mustering the courage to face these people. I'm very happy that you think you're ready."

Was she a healthy (mentally) and happier woman? Wanda was more sane than she had been in months, but she wasn't quite sure if she was happier or not. Perhaps, happier than she had been in a while, but she hadn't reached the height of happiness that she desired quite yet. "I don't know about that. You were one of the very few who gave me a chance," to get better and to be able to think rationally again. Urge had helped her put things back into perspective. After all, if she hadn't tried to get better, she'd never be able to realize any of her dreams.

"Perhaps something handwritten instead?" The Scarlet Witch had never been a big fan of e-mail, or computers, in general. They felt cold and impersonal (e-mails), but handwritten letters were less so - in her opinion, at least. She was sure Russell probably didn't have a preference either way, just as long as she found a way to set things meetings/apologies up, successfully. But there were other things on her mind besides apologies, such as what she should do and/or where she should go afterward. Wanda wasn't too sure she wanted to remain at the mansion much longer.

"What should I do after this is all over with?" It was obvious that this was an issue that had been weighing heavily on the reality-warper/probability manipulator's mind.

'Giving people a chance is my job', Russ thought as she continued to complement him. "If I hadn't given you a chance, I wouldn't be a very good therapist. Or friend, for that matter." Urge smiled as he leaned back into the plush chair and brought his leg up to rest on his knee. Wanda and Russ had been at the school for a long time together, and she was one of his best patients (considering her past). It wasn't hard to believe he'd developed a strong friendship with the gypsy.

"That sounds a little more your style." Urge said of the handwritten letters opposed to the e-mails. In this situation, Russ was merely here as an adviser for the Scarlet Witch. This was something Wanda had to do on her own, in her own way.

"Um..." Her question threw Russ for a second. "I don't know, do you have any ideas?" Urge said with a shoulder shrug. "What interests you?" The empath wasn't sure how the Professor felt about Magneto's daughter leaving the school, but that was a bridge they could cross later. "Their are plenty of options..." They did live at a school located a half hour from New York City, and they did run a mutant superhero team out of the basement. Wanda certainly had options, even if Professor Xavier requested she stayed close.

To be frank, Wanda didn't really have many ideas on what she should be doing after this whole situation had been settled. All she knew was that she needed a change, and possibly some new scenery to go along with it. She'd been at the school for many years now and she was growing a bit restless. Of course, that'd been increased (the restlessness) since her 'house arrest', but she couldn't lie and say she hadn't been thinking about this for a while - even before she'd (temporarily) lost control of her own sanity. This was just something she felt was necessary, if she were to make a full recovery.

"I'm not sure," she'd admitted, followed by a slight shrug of her shoulders. "I just know that I need to leave, Russ." Even though there was a good chance all would be forgiven (but not forgotten) over time, she still felt like her destiny lied well beyond the Institute's walls and that she owed it to herself to go see what was out there. "The X-Men are noble, and so is the goal they are trying to accomplish, but," she paused, taking a breath. "I've never felt like I was really part of the team." No one had really made her feel that was, per se, but it was plain to see that not everyone trusted her - even before the incident. And the gypsy couldn't fault any of those who felt that way.

Granted, there had been others who had made (some of) the mistakes she'd made, but a lot of them had been smart enough to get themselves out of that situation and do the right thing, before it marred them too deeply.

"I have actually been thinking about speaking to Mr. Stark." Though, due to his involvement with Zap, she didn't think the iron-clad billionaire would want to have much to do with her. But, perhaps, if she made those apologies and they were successful.... Maybe, just maybe, he'd give her a chance to redeem herself.

"If that does not pan out, I may just.... travel," she added after a brief pause. Wanda, after all, was a gypsy; it was in her very life's blood to keep on the move. "I would like to try and find my brother."
