And this was where the grand tour stopped: the kitchen. Eva (her sister) had spent a big chunk of the morning showing her around the school and its grounds, explaining the rules, etc. As far as Lucia was concerned, she'd need a map of this place to get around without getting completely turned around. But then again, Luce tended to get lost in her backyard, so she probably was used to wandering around without a clue.

"Aren't you gonna show me what's downstairs, Eva?" the cute, bubbly brunette asked as she hoisted her little butt up onto one of the chairs surrounding the island. She scooted herself forward a bit and rested her elbows upon the granite surface and glanced over at Eva, who was still lingering in the doorway. Someone was clearly anxious to get back to work, it seemed.

"Later," the more colorful of the two replied with a knowing smirk. "I promise... after I get some work done."

Insert eyeroll here. "Oh c'mon! You just got back!" Luce complained, whining a little. "And I'm new around here," she added with a pout. This basically translated to 'please don't leave me alone!' It wasn't like she knew anyone else here... Not that Lucia was completely incapable of getting around and making friends on her own, but this place was new. And very big. Gargantuan even. What if she got lost?

Yeah, she was a bit intimidated.

Besides, she just wanted to spend more time with Eva in general. They'd just begun developing their sisterly relationship and dammit, Luce wanted more bonding time!

"I'm sure they'd understand...."

Eva shook her head a bit and smiled. "Fine," she said, giving into Lucia's demands finally. "What do you want to do then?" Matrix asked, cross her arms beneath her chest.

Hmm. Luce began thinking of possible activities they could partake in with each other. "How about a movie?" she suggested after a few moments of contemplation. "Oh, we can make popcorn!" Lucia added excitedly, as she slipped back off the chair and halfway towards what she thought was the pantry, she stopped and turned back to look at Eva again. "You guys do have popcorn, right?"

Matrix's eyebrows went up slightly. "Of course we do." This was a school and popcorn was a regular snack for those who were both watching movies and cramming for exams.

"Cool." Lucia did an about-face and went back to fixing them a couple bags of popcorn to share.

As Amus entered the kitchen, the first thing he (or anyone) noticed was the shock of multi-colored hair just below eye level near the island. He smiled (mostly with relief). Sometimes snacks became hour-long chats or work sessions with Gert. The cook didn't appear to be around.

Then, he saw her. "Hi." Trance stared at the back of the brunette's head, having only seen a glimpse of her face before she'd whipped around to pursue her own snack. "Hi, Eva." He added a few moments later. His smiled returned and he looked a bit dazed. "I, is this, Lucia?" His hands felt as though they needed something to be doing. Normally he might've been pushing up his sleeves. But it was August. His t-shirt wasn't providing him with the best hand-occupying tool. "Hi." His blue eyes shifted toward the exit again and he finally allowed himself a good, old-fashioned sigh. As if Eva wasn't enough of a knock-out...

And come to find out, her younger sister's picture hadn't done the girl any justice at all. She seemed to exude life - a sparkle. It'd nearly taken his breath away when he'd entered.

Eva had wandered further into the kitchen by the time Amus arrived. Her back had been turned towards him, but she recognized his voice immediately. And he seemed a bit taken aback by something... Oh yes, right. Lucia.

She had shown Zap's nephew a picture of her baby sister a while back and she seemed to recall him thinking that she was cute. She should've known he'd start poking around as soon as they arrived on the school grounds, no doubt wanting to catch a glimpse of the little nymph in person. There were worse people who could've started nosing around, right? She could handle Americus.

"Aah, Eric," Eva said, shifting her body to the left as she turned to get a better look at him. "You look taller," she commented with a grin. Of course, he was no match for the other redwoods wandering around the mansion, but still she thought he had grown a little.

"How've you been?"

Lucia poked her head back out of the pantry when she heard another voice. A male voice. He didn't even sound old either! Right on. Then she stuck her neck a little farther out and she saw him talking to her older sister.

He was very, very cute... as far as she could tell, anyhow. Lucia quickly dove back into the pantry to procure to packets of quick popping, popcorn. It didn't take long for her to find them and once she had, she quickly returned to the island.

"Hi," she greeted Americus, albeit shyly. Then she blushed a bit, realizing they (meaning her sister and him) might've been having a conversation. "Sorry."

Matrix grinned a little wider at this, because she'd never seen Lucie seem so flustered before. It was kind of cute, though.

"No need to apologize, Lucie," Eva spoke lightly to her. "I'd like to introduce you to Americus Stavros; he's Zalika's nephew. You remember Zalika, don't you?"

Lucia nodded and her face brightened, feeling more comfortable that she hadn't interrupted anything. "Yeah, I do," she replied, more quickly now. She had never met Zalika in person, but she had spoken to her once or twice on the phone and on the computer. And she'd seen pictures from hers and Ronan Murphy's wedding....

"And this is Lucia, my lovely baby sister," Eva added with a smirk. "She's going to be attending school here." Wasn't that nice? She thought so.

Taller? He blushed. Argh! "I'm okay, good. How're, well, how was your trip?" He finally settled on a sincere but fairly dopey smile and attempted to keep his eyes focused on Matrix. "It's okay," he interjected between the girls' exchange. He didn't mind if Lucia interrupted.

Right, yes. He was being introduced properly now. Don't shake hands, that's lame, he reminded himself. He settled for a flick of his hand at eye-level. "You can call me Eric," er, "or Amus or Trance. Whatever you want, really..." He found himself watching her eyes so intently that the backyard suddenly came into view. He smiled, dreamily. Lucia's face was blended with the bright green summery trees outside the wall of the kitchen. Oh, shit! Eva's lips were moving. What had she said? Er. "So... I guess you'll be going to school here?" His hands moved upward and he unintentionally signed half of his sentence before he realized what he was doing. Another wave, yeah. Smooth. "Hi."

"Good, but busy," Matrix replied. The trip hadn't been a vacation for her (or her family), as there had been much work for them to attend to.

Their familial home had sustained a lot of damage in an earthquake that shook the better part of Southern California a few months back. Her family had insisted that she didn't have to come help with the repairs, but Eva had always felt a strong sense of duty when it came to her family. They might not have needed her there, but she wanted to be there - if for nothing else, but to provide some moral support.

Either way, Eva was glad she decided to go, as her little sister was in desperate need of a little guidance.

"Nice to meet you, Eric," she said, deciding she preferred Eric over Amus. She too was smiling somewhat goofy herself. What? She was in the presence of a really cute guy. So sue her.

"Er yeah, I'm going to be living her for a while." At least until she finished out her high school education, but she could totally envision herself staying there longer now.

Matrix let the two obviously-smitten teenagers talk amongst themselves and she snatched the two packets of popcorn out Lucia's hands, and she didn't seem to notice or care. Then she continued to busy herself with heating the them up in the microwave.

"Hey, would you like to watch a movie with us?" Lucie asked Americus, looking a bit hopeful. "It's cool if you have other stuff to do..." She didn't want to make him feel obligated to join them, but it couldn't hurt to ask, right?

It was around that time (lunch) and Ronan was feeling it. He hadn't eaten breakfast that morning. He intended to speak with Storm that afternoon about investing in more equipment for the workshop. She probably wouldn't budge on it, but he'd try it anyway. He could sense Eva, her little sister, and Zap's his (new) nephew in the kitchen. It was weird having someone else's family be legally yours. He stepped into the room. It reeked of popcorn. Disgusting. He was going to be in and out even faster now. When his eyes moved over the trio, he was surprised Trance wasn't drooling. Was it over Eva? Oh, no, it was the short one. He hoped she didn't end up being an annoying brat, as she would be down in the lab all the time. Zap was the boy's only family here, so of course he'd be down there. And being Eva's sister was another reason for Lucia to visit. "Hey," Mars greeted, giving a slight nod to them. Then began his sandwich preparation. Ham and cheese. The simplest of them all, thank heaven.

He nodded to Matrix in understanding. He could only imagine. He smiled, finding Lucia's smile to be contagious, "You too." He was being perfectly sincere. It was nice to meet her. "Good," his tone was a mixture of ecstatic and relieved. No one had given him any of the looks he usually earned when he went all spazzy and let his powers overcome him. Er... Movie? He was being reeled in, and he was usually the one doing the reeling. Well, when it came to fish, anyhow. He glanced down at the counter, finding it hard to maintain eye contact. "What er, what were you going to watch?" his eyes shifted to Eva, as if checking for permission. He didn't want to intrude.

Speaking of intrusions...

"Hey, Un-er-Ronan." Uncle? Ronan. Mars? Nah. Ronan. "Hungry?" Obviously. His eyes left the man and went back to the girl. "Have you met Lucia yet?" His face was pointed to Mars, but his blue eyes just couldn't keep themselves aimed elsewhere (besides Lucia).

"No clue," Eva replied to Americus, before eyeing her younger sister. "What kind of films do you like watching?" This was always an issue for Matrix: after spending so many years away from her family, she really wasn't up-to-date on what anyone liked. Shopping for them for Christmas had always a pain in the ass, until she decided to send along giftcards or money with a pretty card, instead. That way everyone could just go out and get what they wanted (or needed).

Besides that, Lucia had been very little when Eva first left California all those years ago. She was almost positive she'd be over most of the stuff that was usually associated with small children, but she could've been wrong....

"Oh, um," Lucia paused, trying to get her thoughts together enough, so she could remember what she actually liked. Well, most of the stuff she liked, most teenage boys didn't, so. But before she could get a word out edgewise, Ronan Murphy entered the kitchen and the attention seemed to have shifted over to him.

Thank goodness! That'd give her enough time to think of something cool to watch.

"Hey, Ronan," Matrix said, giving him a small smile. She'd yet to venture into the dungeons, so this was the first time she saw of him, since she got back. Then she glanced back at Lucia, who seemed to look rather deep in thought about something.

"Lucia," she verbally poked her sister. "Lucia," she repeated, and this time she got a response.

Oh right. "Hey," Lucia said to Ronan, grinning sheepishly and gave him a little wave. She'd recognized him from the wedding pictures Matrix had shown her a while back. His eyes looked even more intense in person, if that was even possible.

Eva smirked again, continuing to open the bags of popcorn and pour their contents into a large plastic bowl.

"We'll be out of your hair here shortly," she informed Mars, knowing full well that he hated the smell of popcorn. Come to think of it, he wasn't a big fan of people either.

"No, I haven't." he said in response to Amus. The girl was a psychometrist. She seemed pretty stable so far, so that was good. Psychometrists had a tendency to go a little batty at times. He'd met some who had taken to wearing gloves as to not relive what had happened to certain objects they came in contact with. "Nice ta meet ye." He had smirked slightly at the greeting the younger Garza gave him and went back to his sandwich making after he'd spoken. Lucia was definitely a different character than her sister. Ronan was already growing weary of the two youngsters (and their hormones), though it seemed as if he would have to get used to this. And presto, his sandwich was made. In record time too. "Not if I get outta yers first." he gave Eva a small smile before he began putting the ingredients away. He grabbed a drink from the fridge before closing it and snagging the sandwich from the counter. Time to eat in peace. He gave a small wave of his drink before heading out of the room.

Oh yeah. Ronan didn't like people. Amus wasn't exactly a social butterfly. Or any sort of butterfly, for that matter. No. Not a butterfly. At least his uncle was being polite. On a personal level, he knew him to be a bit snippy - but with strangers, often times he gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Amus turned his attention back to Lucia, who looked lost in space. Again. He smirked a bit. "I'm gonna go, I think." He needed to catch up with himself. And apparently, his uncle. He was going to ... ask him some questions. But Ronan was on his way out. Since he hadn't been interested in any of the girls at his old school, and he had funny feeling in his stomach now (butterflies? Damn it) he decided Ronan was the best one to ask about this sort of thing. "I'll let you two get settled and maybe if you're not too tired from," flying? "traveling, we can watch something tonight." It didn't seem like Lucia was too decisive. At the moment, anyway. "It's nice to meet you." His smile had gone goofy again and he headed for the door to chase Mars down.
