What: Conlan shows Americus around. Sorta.

Conlan knocked on the dormitory door that as of today was being occupied by Zap's nephew (since the wedding also his nephew-in-law). He'd already met Americus at the wedding, which was probably why he'd been asked to show Americus around the school. Seemed like a good enough kid, maybe a little sheltered. Okay, on second thought, maybe a lot sheltered. Regardless, he liked him, but that didn't mean he had to be nice. He turned the door knob. He didn't care if Amus hadn't answered.

"Com' on Amus, it's a big school." Conny said as he entered the room, taking a quick look around at the half-unpacked bags and suitcases that littered the room. "You can tack up your emo band posters and crucifixes later." Conlan stopped next to the bed, atop of which was the bag Amus was working on at the moment. He lowered his gaze and began casually rifling through the possessions. "Any good figs... Oh, I don' have this album, but I got the rest." He pulled Queen's CD case out and tossed it on the bed; he planned to borrow that after the tour.

"Come-" in? He already had. Conlan again. 'Sentient' had already shown him to his room. Was he going to show him around, as well? Americus sighed a bit and as he bent to add the CD's that were in his hand to the lower shelf beside his desk, he craned around to see what Conlan was touching. One of his Queen discs. It was now tossed on the bed. Emo bands and crucifixes? Ugh. "Could you maybe call me Eric? I mean, the only people who call me Amus are-" family "is everyone back home. At school people just called me Eric. I dunno." He stood and shook his pant legs to unbunch them after crouching, "Yeah, you can borrow that if you want." He gestured randomly as he took an appraising gaze at his progress. "Is Zap busy? I just thought that she'd be around more, I mean," he didn't want to sound needy, "show me around."

"Eric, fine whatever." Conlan said giving another glance around at all of Americus' shit. "I dunno, she's probably just screwin' 'round downstairs." He said as he as began to notice a pattern. Everything was cars, motorbikes, footballs and American Eagle. An all-American boy wasn't he? Yes, he was. "Doesn' matter, we'll have more fun." Maybe he could work on getting Eric a little dirty; and he didn't mean with dirt bikes. Conlan abandoned his search for swag and made for the exit. "Times a wastin'."

"But," well, he didn't really have a reason to unpack before getting acquainted with the building and property. He was just unsure of his surroundings and "Booger"'s intentions. The Murphys seemed like good enough guys, but he had an inkling they got more pleasure out of others' pain than the average Joe. "Okay," he brushed his hands off on the sides of his jeans and moved to follow Conlan. "When you said 'screwin' around'..." He shut the door behind them after trailing off. He wasn't sure if he should've inquired further or not. But he also wasn't sure if his older (but smaller) in-law had just insulted his aunt's honor. Plus, he never wanted to hear about any of his family members "screwin' around." Shudder. Thirdly, he was going to be miffed if he was being ditched for sex. It was his first day, for Pete's sake.

"Relax stretch, she's probably tinkering around on something electrical." 'Regular tinker fairy that one' Conlan thought as he left the bed room with Americus in tow. "We'll head down to the lab and you can see her after the tour. You can meet the whole gang." That might be interesting, the basement dwellers had become a kind of family... A strange, strange family. Might scare the hell outta this one, he thought. "Let me show you the fastest way to the kitchen, I got a feelin' you eat a lot."

"Probably not any more than those big dudes downstairs." One that looked angry and Native, and one that looked a bit confused, but nice enough. Conlan had said they were 'Jimmy-an'-Pete'. As to who was who, Americus had no clue. "And sorry. I just, yeah. I'm not sure how things work around here." He smirked slightly then, "It's a school, after all." Right? There was probably very little actual 'screwin' around'. On their way to the kitchen he took note of the route and some of the faces they passed, as well. "So..." might as well try to break the ice a little better than what had been done, "did your brother ever buy you beer?" They were Irish, right? If it was a family custom, maybe he could get them to come around to him, as well.

"No, he didn't. But I took some from he liquor cabinet so I guess that counts." Conlan and Ronan didn't have the typical brother relationship. But Conlan wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, not that he would admit that.

"Yeah, 'cause there's no hanky-panky in boarding schools." Conlan shot back at Eric's observation. "Let me tell you something now." The Irish lad stopped mid-step to explain things to the n00b. "Anything and everything will happen here. This is not your typical school. Anyway, let's head downstairs." The sub-basement awaited.

Anything and everything, huh? So he'd heard. Amus sighed a bit and lowered his gaze to the floor before giving a nod to his 'uncle'. Lead on. Amus hadn't really been in the lower levels, so all the white and stainless steel and lights was sort of disorienting. He was thankful the sub-basement wasn't as sparkly. It was sorta grungy in parts, actually. Sometimes places took on the characteristics of their inhabitants. He smirked. He liked it down here - it was almost like a garage. When they came into the workshop, he took a careful look around at all of the equipment and machines. There was a computer screen on ever surface. It irked him a bit, honestly. There were pieces of a dismantled laptop atop one section of counter and a purple hair tie - abandoned. Then a toilet flushed. A new light source flooded the dreary room and Zap appeared from around the corner, just before the light went out again. Thank God. "Hi." he greeted her, trying not to sound too much like a lost puppy.

"Amus!" She chirped, then put some hustle in her step in order to glomp her nephew faster. "Hey you," she hugged him tightly and took a step back to look at him. He didn't seem jetlagged or carsick or too worse for wear. Good. "I completely lost track of time." Her eyebrows furrowed together and she gave an apologetic smile. Her eyes shifted to Conlan briefly and she moved forward subconsciously and gave him a hug as well, whether he liked it or not. "You two need something to do?" she grinned, suddenly.

At least this time Amus was the one who got glomped and not him, the Irishman thought. 'Yeah, ya do that,' almost shot from his mouth about Zap losing track of time, but he decided to play nice. They didn't need to expose Amus to all of their bickering all at once.

"No-" Conlan said quickly in response to Zap and traded glances with Amus. "No, we're fine. Still got plenty left ta show him about this mental place." The last thing Conlan wanted right now was a job. "Isn't that right?" Conlan added with a pat on Amus' back.

"Yes, yeah," Americus agreed, noting that 'Booger' had gotten a hug of greeting as well. At least there was that. Home meant hugs - whether you liked it or not. He smirked at Conlan's attempt to worm out of some duty or another, but was thankful. He wasn't quite in the mindset to be of any use to anyone, really. "Lots to see. I haven't even been outside yet," he told his aunt.

"Do you wanna come with?" He felt like he was being rushed off. And besides, wasn't she supposed to be on her 'honeymoon'? What was she doing working? "You could take a break."

"All right, all right." The brats. At least she knew that Americus hadn't been at the school for too long without her knowledge of it. If they hadn't been outside yet, they couldn't have done too much. However, the inside was massive as well.

"I'm not really working," she explained, "I was talking to Eva on the computer - she's up in the computer lab - and my laptop made this creepy noise and shut off. So I started tearing it apart," as per usual, "and ... had to pee." And here they were. "You guys are probably doing just fine on your own." She stuck her tongue out at Amus, then gave Conlan a wink. "You should stop at the stables first. Or take him out to the garage. Might end up there for hours." So many pretty cars... so little time.

Good, the kid wasn't retarded. Okay, he knew Amus wasn't stupid but he was on his feet enough to avoid getting conned into work. Conlan rolled his eyes at Zap's explanation. That was like the third time this month she'd pulled her laptop apart, she was gonna wear down the screws. He also decided he'd wait to explain just how creepy 'talking to Eva on the computer' was.

"Yeah, I was in his room for thirty seconds and I saw eight hundred car pics. We'll save the garage for last, he might not come back out." Conny smirked. "Might go introduce him to some of the more mental guys." Will and Troy came to mind, wait... "Where's Ronan?" Conlan liked it when he had some idea where his older brother was.

"I don't think I would," Americus admitted to the both of them of the garage. He'd heard tell that it was pretty excellent. He was still smirking a bit about Conlan's mention of his dorm room. So his hobby was a little obvious. Big deal. "You're probably just making trouble for yourself," he told Zap. How could a computer make a 'creepy noise'?

Mental? Great. Conlan's use of that world was escalating.

"Yeah, aren't you two supposed to be..." Married? Together? Probably not all the time. Who could deal with that?

Zap laughed at Conlan's remarks of Amus' room. Yeah. Car buff. He'd probably get along well with most of the guys around the mansion - or the ones Zap spoke with most (Ronan, Forge, Pete). And Scott. She missed Scott. He was always so dry. It made her laugh. She smiled at that thought before tuning back in to what her nephew was saying. She reached up and ruffled his shaggy hair. "That's what I do best, sugar." She'd married Mars, after all. And her best friends were a technophile and a basket of emotions. T-r-o-u-b-l-e.

She looked to Conlan when he asked after his brother. "He went to smoke. He's down to a few a day now. And I've stocked up on sugar-free gum." Between the booze, cigarettes and candy, he was a bundle of nerves. She'd gotten him to cut back on all three. Though, Zap didn't mind the booze as much. Usually it just made things more interesting. Cutting an Irishman off from alcohol was like clipping a bird's wings. No fun at all.

"Don't date a smoker, guys." Luckily, most of the younger women (and men) around the school abstained from tobacco products. She headed back for her laptop debris. "At least it gives him an excuse to get me out of his hair every now and then." She could've hung around him every second of the day, though. Easier said than done.
