Who: Blob, OPEN When: October 7th, 2006 (early evening) Where: Upstate New York, near Brotherhood HQ What: A trip to the circus! Status: in progress Rating: G
A circus came to town. It seemed as if the ground gave birth overnight and the circus sprang into being without any warning or coming. Blob went to sleep one night, and the next morning, the other Brothers were abuzz with the news that the vacant lot was now full of a Ferris wheels and striped tents and carnies. Most of them didn’t know that Dukes was a circus freak himself. He sought to keep his past in his past; he had turned over a new leaf by joining Magneto, and he does not think he currently was half the man he had been. The Blob cannot compare to Blob. No one respected Blob. Everyone respected The Blob.
Even with bittersweet nostalgia over what had once been, when he heard the other Brotherhood members were going to go to the circus to “check things out” and “light a few fires” (there was something about mutants being put on show like animals, but Freddy didn’t really care), he tagged along. As they walked from their parking space up to the carnival, he became overwhelmed: the crisp autumn air, the colors, the smell of popcorn, the grime on poles, the makeshift rides and attractions, the screams of joy. He missed this. Glancing over towards the other Brotherhood members, he swallowed deeply, trying to keep his desires off of his face. He thought of saying he wanted to go get popcorn or kettle corn or something first, but he knew they would ignore his opinion, so he kept his mouth shut, waiting for them to lead the way.
