Jamie had a lot of small duties at the mansion, not that he minded. He liked to keep busy. In fact helping to look after the animals was strangely calming. It took him back to the days when he ran the family farm by himself, but this time he wasn't alone. It was much nicer. He had just finished feeding the pigs, had a basketfull of eggs and had picked up a stool and pail to go milk the cows. It was early in the morning and he was humming to himself. This was the life.
Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man (or in this case, a woman) healthy, wealthy, and wise.
Wren generally didn't stay up past ten or eleven and was up by six or seven (at the latest) in the morning the next day. It wasn't that she didn't like sleeping in on occasion, but she found she was able to get more done if she got up before eight in the AM on most days; and now that she had become a fully functioning member of the Xavier's Institue, she was doing much more of the former lately - not that she minded. It was just nice to be doing something other than sitting in her room (or the library) reading books.
While today was a school day, it was a bit too early to be heading to the classroom; so instead, Wren was enjoying a leisurely morning stroll; she did these on most mornings whenever she didn't have anything else to do. Today she found herself out near where the animals were kept and as she got closer, she noticed some activity. She slowed down a bit, trying to make out who was in with the animals, but as she got closer to the barn's open doors, she noticed it was Jamie.
She should've known it was him, but everyone around there shared most of the chores, so it could've easily been someone else tending to the farm animals. "Hey," she greeted him with a small smile, once she was standing right at the entrance.
"Good morning."
Jamie looked over to where the greeting had come from and smiled. He would have waved but his hands were kind of full. He lifted his arms a bit to show this. "Morning." He replied happily. "I was just about to go get us some fresh milk for breakfast." he informed her. Then he felt a bit like a fool and hit his foot against the ground, making a copy of himself to take half the load. He grinned sheepishly and waved. "You want to learn how to milk a cow?"
She had already taken a few steps into the barn when greeted her in return and informed her of the 'milk situation.' Well, obviously they had to be getting the milk somewhere and with the current state of the world, they couldn't be getting it from a store.. so that only left one option: they had to milk cows. You couldn't get much more fresh than that.
Before she could make a reply, Jamie had stomped his foot and produced a clone - seemingly out of thin air. It was still something she had to get used to (watching people use their mutations), because life before the pseudo-apocalypse hadn't been this eventful. "You want to teach me to milk a cow?" This was the first time she had ever been asked this particular question before, and it would probably be the last. "Okay, sure," she decided with a small laugh and slight up and downward movement of her shoulders.
This should be amusing.
Both Jamie's laughed at the question. He gestured his head. "They're over here." He had no idea if she knew the layout of this area. Few people who didn't do chores there did. "Don't worry, it's not really all that difficult." He made another clone who went with the first to go get the cows ready and slowed down to walk with her. "So, are you always up this early?"
Wren turned her head in the direction where Jamie the original had been gesturing and she spotted a few cows in cooped up in individual stalls. She had always thought cows were cute - smelly, but cute. However, Multiple Man's question caused her to avert her attention back onto him, instead of the cows. "Yeah, actually - on the weekdays, at least." Work and all. It was kind of nice to be back on a similar routine, one that she had before this big mess occurred. Of course, it differed slightly. "I take it you're an early-riser, too?"
Wren began to slow down as they drew nearer to the stalls. The cows had their backs turned to them and she noticed that they seemed to be swishing their tails in time with each other's. How adorable, even if she knew it was more or less to keep the flies at bay.
OOC: I just picked a random date - if this doesn't work, let me know.
