dress-less Sunday
Wanda was losing her dress.

It was a new one, too -- white and lacy and soft to the skin and it was a Sunday and she was in the mood to wear it to shopping today. But as it is, the problem was that it was lost.

And she would not have this.

Dressed instead in her relatively new tangerine top and bell-bottom chocolate slacks, Wanda then set off for a search for her new dress. She'd checked the laundry area but it was not there so she was back in the hallways -- posing in the middle of it with one hand on her hip as she flicked her hair back.

She was thinking of a plan.

Oh mansion hallways. The first step towards the public sphere. Where the self ends and the others begin. The road seemed so long and...uncomfortably tight for Ororo's good.

Ororo didn't mind bumping into someone, saying a casual hello or a simple wave. She was friendly enough to be able to stop and talk as part of her leaderly duties. They weren't obligations but Ororo preferred knowing what's going on with her people. But not in the hallways. She always gets that nagging thought that the walls would catch her by surprise and move.

So Ororo tends to walk on fast forward and hope that no one stands in the hallway. It was a Sunday so Ororo became a little optimistic that people would be elsewhere.

Then Wanda appears, for some strange reason Ororo was sure. She had no choice. It wasn't a matter of not wanting to see anyone, it was a matter of seeing someone and engaging in a conversation longer than a minute...in the hallway.

"Good morning," Ororo greeted with a beverage in hand, "You look like you're plotting to rule the world."

"I'm looking for my dress," or more correctly: her 'dr-ress'.

The look on Wanda's face would easily tell Ororo that she was not the least bit comfortable with the idea that it was not in her closet just when she'd wanted it to be. Giving a little scoff of a sigh, she adjusted her posture so that she faced her leader but still maintained that supermodel...arch.

"You haven't seen it, have you? It's white and lacy, and it's from Express."

Ororo shook her head, "The only way I could've seen it is through the laundry area, and I don't go there."

If she could not ask someone else to toss her laundry in that place (which she was already embarrassed enough to do) she would really rather look for a service outside or wash her clothes in the river or something.

Long story short, the laundry area completely and utterly creeps her out. She will not dare put a foot in it.

"Maybe you should post something in the bulletin." Ororo suggested, keeping a very attentive gaze at Wanda.

Lorna was coming down the steps from her room when she heard Wanda and Ororo's conversation. Holding a mug of (cold) coffee, she had her arms crossed over her chest and was going for a refill. She'd been up most of the night with a brainwave theory, working on it with no end. It was how she worked the best.

Taking the hallway where the two women were standing, Lorna caught the expression of wondering and loss between them. Maybe she could help? Might as well try.

"What's up?" She asked, settling the hand that wasn't holding her mug on her hip.

"Well, maybe I should," said Wanda with a little nod. "But do people here even check the bulletin? So far, The only one I've seen post aside from me is Jubilee." at the sound of new foot steps, she whirled to the source of the voice -- and she thought Lorna asking them what was up was good news.

Really, if this had been any other occassion, Wanda would probably be feeling a little a bit (just a little) bad about pulling people out of their daily activities just for something she was looking for. But well, this was not that occassion.

"I'm looking for my dress," said Wanda to Lorna, collecting her wavy brunette locks all to one shoulder so they didn't bother much. "It's white and lacy, it ends just above the knees," she wasn't even going to get sick of repeating those descriptions. Maybe in all her repetitions, it'd pop out of nowhere.

Ororo smiled and made a little wave at Lorna. Okay, no one's gnashing their teeth at her yet for being absent the last mission. Best be extra nice about it.

"Everyone in the house seems quiet these days," Was her supplementary comment to Wanda's musings about the bulletin, "I don't see people gathering much. Maybe I should do something about that."

She turned to Lorna, "How are you?"
