The Best Laid Plans. [open]
Let it not be said that Erik Lensherr was an impatient man. While people could assume that having the ability to walk through walls implied that the person did not have the patience or the time to simply unlock a door, it was certainly not the case for Erik. For him, to use his powers was to use the abilities that God had given him. If he were made to feel ashamed of his abilities, if he was led to believe as others believed: that he was a freak of nature, an abnormality, then he would be a coward. Erik believed that everyone was here for a purpose and some were meant for higher purposes than others.

He collected the papers he'd been working on in the room that he had claimed as his own. It was the master bedroom, of course, and the wardrobe was filled with expensive clothes and shoes that had never belonged to him. The dresser contained nick-nacks and personal items that he didn't not care for, because they were not his. The older couple who owned them no longer needed them wherever they were now, but that was not to say that it was Erik's right to defile them.

With his notes in a plain manilla folder, he sunk through the floor and into the dining room, from where it was only a short walk to the living room, which had become the default meeting area in their short sojourn in this particular house. Several hours ago he had left a short note on the fridge-door with details for his Brotherhood of the meeting he was to hold here in half an hour or so. There were things that needed to be discussed, and they were not all of the protest-infiltrating variety.

Kenuichio made it a point to be on time to things. Well, it wasn't like he'd much to delay him from a meeting or gathering when he was growing up - he couldn't claim that traffic had kept him from arriving to a family dinner on time, after all.

The note hadn't told them to bring anything in particular (though it wouldn't be hard to fetch anything they had; thank goodness for convenient meeting places), but he'd been sure to dress somewhat nicely, mostly out of habit. Hands at his sides, he looked Erik in the eye as he entered, and then bowed, again out of habit, before finding a seat at the table a few chairs away.

Kevin watched everything happen from where he sat -- that single couch closest to the window and the fireplace where he had placed himself since deciding to depart from the kitchen because of Jean-Paul's tantrum.

But this time around, he was without a manila envelope and a cup of cocoa (the newspaper was left by the couch). Kevin brought only himself to this meeting and when Kenuichio bowed to the man, he just stood up from his seat and watched. Normally, he wouldn't have done that but peer pressure was too much and somehow, he had to show Erik, their leader, he recognized him, right?

As the younger man sat down, so did Kevin and resumed his previous position. That didn't come out very awkwardly, did it?

Usually having no issue with arriving at a meeting early, Melody found herself rushing to get to this one. She'd been caught up in an unusual sleeping pattern as of late - working late nights into the early morning at a local bar had that effect - and alarm clocks never really worked well for waking her up. Make no mistake, she wasn't necessarily late, she just didn't get down to the living room when she'd wanted to, and it bothered her. She hated not being able to control things that she should be able to - like her time - but it was too late to whine about it.

Showered of bar-skank and dressed well enough to be presentable, but still casual, Melody finally made it down to the living room, doing her best not to appear agitated with herself. Looking disgruntled in this house wasn't unusual, but there were times when people decided they needed to assume you were bothered by them, so it was easier to just put on a somewhat happy face and go on about your business. Entering the room, she smiled politely to all present before quietly taking a seat in an open chair.

There was nothing quite like being in a room full of quiet, respectful young people when it came to making someone feel their age. He nodded politely to each of his Brotherhood who entered, perhaps even blessing them with the smallest of smiles.

He pulled a pair of reading glasses from his shirt pocket and slipped them on his nose. There was probably nothing more he could do to make himself look any more bookish and like an old university professor than that.

"Perhaps if everyone else turns up early to the meeting we might be able to get it over and done with sooner rather than later." He mused out loud, to the three that had so far arrived.

"Przepraszam, jestem za późno," Jamie muttered an apology to Erik, quickly stepping into the room and pulling his sweatshirt hood off of his head. He hadn't meant to be late, but he'd been working on a case late into last night and had overslept that morning, missing the first train up to Greenwich.

He kept his head down as he slipped into a chair, finding it best not to draw attention to himself. He didn't like to anyway.

Putting out his cigarette as he stood out on the back stoop , Remy figured he'd better get inside to the meeting. He had read the newspaper by now, but he wasn't exactly sure what the meeting was about. He would guess it was about that, but it was difficult to assume around here.

Slipping in along the back wall of the living room, Remy was in his shadow form. He floated around a lamp and over a small table. Finding an empty space, his form became more solid until he was standing there in his visible form, arms crossed over his chest.

Remy nodded to Erik. It wasn't often they had meetings like this. He preferred to hang out in the back of the room.

Congregations such as those would be one of those rare instances where Rahne Sinclair would immerse with people. Other rare instances include being part of the confusion in anti-mutant riots, where she would often be swooping down to fleeing crowds amidst a certain scale of destruction. Another would be when she is bitterly facing off against her team's rivals with her pair of swords in hand.

Rahne had been a sworn member of the Brotherhood for more than a decade and yet, over the course of years where so much had happened, her behavior towards socialization had never changed. For that, she could seem to be so old when she was in fact so young.

Her arrival in that particular meeting was just the same as before, she would be floating in the air and land lightly upon reaching the doorway, where she would start to just simply walk and standing on one uninhabited spot (usually by the bookshelf). Rahne had always preferred to stand even if there was sitting space or even if a chair was offered to her. But while she stood away, she remained close enough to hear what Erik would say word by word.

Rahne would not say hello, or smile, or even make the merest nod, but she would never fail to be there on time, completely present in body and mind.

Two of the girls appeared, their steps matched as they held hands. They'd become a little attached to Rahne, who appeared to inspire as much awe and discomfort as the Hive appeared to. Although they'd not gotten to know her very well, the girls were awfully curious. They stared at her before separating and covering opposite ends of the room.

A little late, but it had taken some time to gather up all the troops, so to speak. Though the Hive mostly stayed in the house, it could still be a monumental task. It was important that all of them attended this meeting.

Anna hadn't really been aware of the meeting, having left for an early shift at work before the note got posted and not even having the time to grab anything from the fridge anyways if it had. Breakfast was their busiest time of day, after all. Still nothing beat walking into the house, going to grab a drink and realizing you had a few minutes to get your butt in gear to the meeting. She was just thanking whatever foresight she had in her head that made her not wear her uniform back.

Slipping into the room, she glanced around and cursed under breath hoping she wasn't actually late. She thought she had some time to spare but maybe not. Deciding against trying to grab a seat, she just rounded the doorway before leaning against the wall nearest, giving a faint half-smile to whoever looked her way but that was all.

Erik checked his watch. It was one of those old-fashioned manual watches, that needed winding every few days in order for it to keep ticking. Unfortunately if he were to wear anything that had a battery in it would be quickly rendered useless by his abilities.

"I guess that this will have to suffice." He said, when he saw that it was time for the meeting to start. Words would be had with those who had an inadequate excuse for not being there on time.

"I'm sure you're all aware by now of the situation in Cromwell, and the protest that the Friends of Humanity plan to partake in." He said, coughing a little to clear his throat. "And you all are intelligent enough to have probably anticipated our plan of action, but you should all know that there are others who are just as intelligent and in some cases much more so than you, who will have anticipated exactly the same course of action, so we must take this into account. I will not tolerate any reckless action on this particular mission. They will most likely be there by the time we are, some of them will probably have infiltrated the march. Our mission here is to let our sentiments about this issue known. All attacks are to be concentrated on the FOH, particularly the leaders of the march. Do not kill anyone. No school officials are to be touched. Not a single building of that school is to be destroyed. If I hear of even one pane of glass being smashed by a member of this group, then I will be most unhappy."

He straightened in his seat and opened up the Manilla folder that he had set on the coffee table when he first entered the room. He handed it to the person closest to him with the intention of having them pass it around between them. "I have the route that the protest plans to take here, and a rough plan of the building placement around it with the positions that I wish you to be in by the time that the protest is to pass by. There will be a simultaneous attack, and anyone who breaks formation prior to the pre-organised attack time will face retribution afterwards. When the X-Men arrive, as they are bound to do, your aim is to disable them as efficiently as possible, again without damaging the school in any way. Are there any questions?"

He'd reached out to Erik when the folder was handed somewhere to his direction and so Kevin took the first sheet of the timid pile before handing it towards the person closest to him as his eyes surveyed the sketch and the notes on the paper. As always, he found that he would be on one of the rooftops surrounding the route -- his building would be one of the earliest the protest would meet.

As Erik talked, he ran his eyes through the map to memorize out his 'neighbors' but when the time for inquiry was offered, dark orbs flew towards Erik and Kevin found himself running the older man's words in his mind...

Then speaking, "By disabling the X-Men...this would mean that killing is a possibility, does it?" only because the X-Men could get a little pushy what with their powers and their training, and his own powers aren't exactly the safest, after all. Besides, even if it was a stupid question, it was better to be sure than not. He always ran that thought by himself whenever he talked to his work boss or to any of his clients.

"If necessary, yes, but that is by no means our primary objective. I'd much prefer that you disable any opponents you face in non-mortal fashion, but use your discretion. Any fatalities will not be the most PR-Friendly route to take and I can guarantee that the X-Men will take a death to their number quite personally, and will remember it next time we meet them."

And it was practically guaranteed that they would. The Brotherhood were the bugs and the X-Men were the repellent. Wherever the Brotherhood went, the spray would follow.

"Any other questions?"

Anna leaned over the nearest chair, taking one of the papers as it was passed. "This isn't during school hours, right?" She asked as she did, dropping an arm on the back of the chair and leaning as she looked the page over. "Ah mean, they aren't parading aroun' with kids in that school...?" Terrifying and attacking a bunch of mutant hating protesters was one thing, but doing it in front of a bunch of school children was something else entirely. She'd never really gave close to a damn about her own education or attending school, but didn't mean that some other lil' mutant kids didn't deserve the chance to.

Kenuichio was not the best at blending in with a crowd, and not really all that great and non-fatal injuries, either - though his aim was quite good, the weapons in question weren't exactly small. But he did what he could, and Erik seemed to think he had some use, since he hadn't been sent home yet.

"Should we be trying to seen? Or trying to stay out of sight, or does it not matter either way, once it begins?" he asked, right on the heels on Anna's questions.

It was all well and good to be concerned for children - Ken had nothing against children - but they had to grow up sometime, right? Granted, accidental carnage was not the best introduction to the real world, but if this went according to plan, that wouldn't be a problem.

"We can handle the students," one of the girls offered. Nothing like a row of bodies to make effective crowd control.

"Unless there are other plans which require our talents," spoke the other from across the room. The two stared at one another disapprovingly.

"Obviously, it's important to make sure none of the students are hurt," said the first.

"Which I'm sure everyone will make sure of," argued the second. Both the girls crossed their arms at the same time. The first chewed the inside of her lip rather than continuing the spat.

"I don't believe the march is planned for during school hours, as it's organised for a Saturday, but I have no doubt that some children will be amongst the crowd, so removing them from harm would probably be wise." He said calmly, looking from Anna to the identical blonde girls scattered about the room.

He then turned his attention to Kenuichio and his question. "There is no need to hide in this particular situation. To hide while we attack would be cowardly and would support their thesis that we are nothing more than vermin scuttling around in the dark, unworthy to stand side-by-side with them. No, let them see who we are."

Remy shifted uncomfortably following Erik's reply to Ken. He knew the comment wasn't aimed at him, but he felt a slight jab to his esteem. He was not afraid to show humans what he was - he just didn't have a very effective way of doing it out in the open.

Straining a little to see where the folder of papers had drifted to, Remy leaned forward. He didn't have any questions. He was just doubtful. He was never really one to put a lot of stock into protests and public displays anyway.

Somewhere around the time that Erik had actually started talking, Gloria had finally made her way to the designated meeting place. She'd leaned herself up against a wall, arms crossed over her chest, one foot across the other, and eyes focused on the light fixture hanging from the ceiling. She was listening, but she always felt weird about staring at people when they spoke. Yes, she knew it was polite to watch them, and that what she was actually doing, in fact, was a little rude, but it didn't change the fact that staring at the man felt weird.

When the itinerary found it's way to her hands, she took one and continued the passing line. She was glad that someone else had brought up a question about the kids - the last thing she wanted to add to her title was child slaughterer - not that mutant terrorist was great, or anything. Then again, depending on the situation she was in, she might not have even cared. Gloria tried to spend the majority of her time on these kinds of missions doing crowd control, and she was very good at that. When it was time for her to slip into her diamond form, though, it was hard for her to care about anything but herself. Not only because she was in defensive mode, but because she literally couldn't. Hopefully that wouldn't be an issue for her during this one, but with the X-Men mostly likely showing up, Gloria knew her chances of staying on the offensive were looking slim.
