When: Tuesday, October 30, 2007; (Evening)
Where: Xavier's.
What: The Scarlet Witch arrives at the Institute, seeking help and refuge.
Status: In Progress.
Rating:  PG  to start.

Wanda had never felt more lost and helpless in her life. For months now, she wandered about the country, searching for her twin brother, Pietro. During the chaos on Alcatraz island, they had gotten separated from each other and Wanda had been on her own ever since. She had debated long and hard on what she should do with herself until they were reunited, and she ultimately came to the conclusion that she needed to seek outside assistance if she ever wanted to see Quicksilver ever again; it was not surprising that all when she decided to seek out the X-Men for help. Her father had long since gone into hiding and she had no idea where to begin looking for him. Even if she did know where he was, she probably wouldn't want his help anyway. After all, this was all his fault.

If he hadn't gone off half-cocked and stormed that bloody island, none of this would've happened. And she and her brother would be safe and sound, and more importantly, together. They had never gone more than a day without seeing or talking to one another, so needless to say this separation was pure torture for her and she hated to think about Pietro feeling just as miserable and lost as she was. But she knew, as he probably did, that they needed to remain strong and positive, and keep hope alive. It was hard, though.. So very, very hard.

When Wanda arrived at the Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters one evening, she stood outside the wrought iron gates, peering through bars at the large estate beyond. The windows were alight with life, and there was no doubt in her mind that some of the inhabitants within knew of her presence. She was somewhat skeptical that they'd help her, as she and her brother had openly opposed their ideals and had faced off with them in combat before. But she had to at least try. If they were true blue do-gooders, they would at least listen to what she had to say, before her turning away.

After a few moments of quiet contemplation, the Scarlet Witch pressed a button on one of the brick posts, buzzing whoever had control over the gate to let her in. Wanda took a few steps back from it, hoping that one of the security cameras they strategically placed near the entrance of the school, would catch her image more clearly. She looked harmless in muted, but multicolored woolen coat, but didn't they all look innocent at first glance? This could've been some kind of trick, but this time, Wanda wasn't up to no good. This time, she was coming to the X-Men for help.

"Yeah. Outside... At the gate. Right, I'll check it out." Forge removed his hand from his headset and turned to leave the kitchen. He had just put together something that would pass for dinner when Ronan chimed into his ear. Apparently Scarlet Witch was outside the gates and she wanted in the mansion, well... we'll see. It seemed Forge had drawn the short straw being the closest to the multicolored gypsy.

He traveled out the large double doors and into the chill of the autumn air. The leaves on the trees were fading and student created jack-o-lanterns dotted the landscape of property. He had grabbed his trench coat on the way out and move his energy pistol from the hosteler of his coat pocket. He wanted to be ready for whatever the Witch was up to.

With his right hand in firm grasp of the weapon hidden in his pocket, Forge reached the other side of the gate. "You're a day early, Halloween is tomorrow."

The sound of footsteps were quickly approaching the gates and Wanda remained still, waiting and watching while Forge made his way to her. She didn't recognize him when his face came into the light; which wasn't all that surprisingly, really. The X-Men seemed to be like rats in the sense that there was so many of them and they all seemed to wear the same exact face.

Then the Halloween remark came and her expression soured slightly.

Oh right, and they all had rather smart alec-y attitudes to boot. No doubt they were expecting her to make a scene, but they were going to be pleasantly surprised (or disappointed) that she had no intentions in partaking in such behavior tonight. Or any night, for that matter.

Besides... if she had wanted to do something, she would've already done it.

A brow was quirked, perturbed. "Do you treat all of those who come to you for help with such rudeness?" Wanda wondered, each of her words laced with the flavors of Eastern Europe.

Forge's expression did not change, but his did nostrils flared at the Witch's statement. It was his standard reaction to annoyance - his students knew well. Was she really that naive? Or was it just that Lensherr pride they all seemed to have getting in the way? He did not think asking for help came easy to any of them.

The last time any of the X-Men had seen Scarlet Witch, she was fighting against them on Alcatraz Island. Now she appears at their door, apparently alone, tongue sharpened for the occasion. He didn't like it.

Forge pulled the pistol from his pocket no longer in the mood for pretense, he kept the firearm at his waist but still trained on the redhead. "We treat people how there deserve to be treated; in your case better than you deserve. Want do you want, Wanda?" There were children inside those walls behind him. He never considered not shooting a known threat on sight to be rude. She was lucky she had only been teased about her coat.

Asking for help had never really been an issue before now. Wanda always had Pietro and he had her. That was all they ever needed, but now they were separated from each other and she had to learn when it was time to go asking for it.

"I need your help." Obviously or she wouldn't be on their doorstep, letting this man practically hold her at gunpoint. "My brother, Pietro, is missing."

When she uttered those words, real, live emotion reflected in her darkening blue eyes. Her brother was everything to her. He was her world. Without him, she felt like she was missing a part of her soul.

"Please," she nearly pleaded, tears beginning to cloud her vision. She swallowed hard, fighting back the tears that were threatening to fall. "I cannot do this alone."

Maybe it was asking too much, as she was getting better than what she deserved. But, at this point, she didn't have much to lose.
