Who: Shadowcat, Leech
When: Friday, September 28th, 2007
Where: Xavier's; hallway
What: Reaction to Sentinel attack
Status: in progress
Rating:  G

Kitty never liked the idea of police officers with machine guns in their arms and missiles in their shoulders. In her opinion, there should just be more mutant police officers, like the X-Men, but on a local scale. If people could fight people, mutants should be able to fight mutants. Not to mention that machines almost invariably went wrong, and this incident was a perfect example. Their computer chip malfunctioned, the programmers messed up, or even if the AI worked perfectly and this man may have been seconds away from being a criminal – whatever the reason, the Sentinels needed to be recalled. Even if mutants would take advantage of the lapse of law enforcement, at least killer robots wouldn’t murder harmless civilians.

Closing the laptop that she had been using to monitor the news, she phased through the floor, landing near the kitchen. No doubt a discussion was happening in the rec room, and Kitty always liked to be a part of the aftermath of any big news story. The X-Men usually planned their next course of action huddled around a screen, and she would get her opinion heard. As she moved towards the rec room, she saw Leech scurrying away, head down and looking distraught. “Hey, Jimmy,” Kitty greeted gently, placing a hand on his shoulder. “How are you?”

Jimmy whisked across the hallway at a pace that was obviously abnormal. how could he be so stupid. Walking by the door and letting his powers negate the others. He felt so embarrassed, and around that cute Japanese girl. The thought of their eyes on him as he nullified their powers made his pale little cheeks redden.

As he came across the hallway, Jimbo felt Kitty before he saw her. Felt her in the sense that, he could feel his mutation reaching out and deactivating another mutant close by. The sensation gave him goose bumps ever time he used it. Which in the mansion was often.

Kitty came upon him and spoke, then Jimmy involuntarily felt his should muscle tense up. The little twelve year old was even more nervous when people came close to touching him. Good thing she just touched his shirt. He could have let out a sigh.

Jimmy was terrible at hiding his emotions. For one thing, living in the Worthington Corporation housing, had almost entirely severed human contact. And for two, well his powers were also touch based. He could drain the powers of another mutant for almost an entire day if they touch him. If it was a human? He could drain their body. Which was scary enough on it's own without trying to tip toe around teenagers.

"Hello Katherine." He began after a pause. He poorly attempted to gather up his emotions and drain his face of his shame. "I, Uhm.. Just saw the news..." He started then stopped. As if it explained it all. "And the older kids say it's a cover up!" He accidentally blurted. Recoiling from this, he turned his head. Mentally scolding himself for such an outburst.

She had stopped trying to get him to call her Kitty. Maybe their age difference was too great, or maybe Leech hadn't been in school long enough to really understand that Kitty wasn't really a part of the "staff" category, but more of the "older students," or maybe he was just socially awkward. He wouldn't be the first. Whatever the reason, she had accepted that Jimmy would call her Katherine - and that, as long as she had her way, he would be the only one. A smile that might have appeared on her face from these thoughts fell short as he discussed the news. Her hand tightened on his shoulder, protected by cloth from his Rogue-like powers. She was used to touching without really touching. "I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, Jimmy," she said, an attempt to comfort him. "We'll get to the bottom of it, and make sure it doesn't happen again." A cover-up, though? The thought sent chills down her spine.

He glanced up at her face, and allowed a small frown to form. Was Katherine right? Could the X-men get to the bottom of it? He certainly hoped so. "Ok." He flatly stated and gave a small nod. Wow Katherine was already a full fledged X-man. Jimmy was so envious. He privately wished he could get a uniform too. Then maybe the cool kids would hang out with him. But, alas he was too young, and was mostly useless. "Do you think I should hire a body guard?" Maybe then he wouldn't useless. "Like a Wolverine kinda guard. But without the Booze." He could use see Wolverine and him back to back. Fighting the Robots. Jimmy in his own uniform. Like a gold one. Maybe even a driving permit.

A bodyguard? Kitty laughed. "I don't think Wolverine would be very much without the booze," she explained, voice still lifting in laughter. She forgot sometimes how young Leech was - how young a lot of the students here were. At least most of them (she hoped) didn't look up to Wolverine only; there were so many better role-models for preteens: Storm, Scott, Xavier, even all of her friends were good for modeling something. Wolverine, sure, modeled a lot of positive qualities, but most of them were hidden behind something else. Booze, knives, anger. Whatever. It's Wolverine. "And why would you need a bodyguard, anyway?"

Well he really needed a friend. But hey, who was counting? "There's just so much bad." He stated. "And not much good. And I think some of the bad is because of me." He replied guiltily. His eyes taking on a passive drop to the floor. It was strange, despite everyone else at the mansion Katherine was someone Jimmy trusted and relied on more then anyone else. He would have ran away long ago if not for her. But he could never say that. "Your so lucky. Your already an X-men and everything!" He exclaimed, as if the suit alone solved the world's problems. Katherine was a super hero. She could do anything! She stopped the Juggernaut. By herself and everything. She could take on Magneto and them all. In other words, she was everything Leech was not.
