Zap had been working with some of the other infected mutants lately. They were all adjusting at different rates - as to be expected. So far as her personal situation went, well, Ronan hadn't touched her in over a month the way she would’ve liked. In the past, Mars had had a tendency to snap (to be harsh with even her), and she hadn't wanted to tempt him or risk putting him in a bad situation. So, she hadn’t made drastic efforts to touch him, or to be sexual either. Now that she was so worn out, she didn’t feel as anxious slipping into the bed she shared with him. Finally, she was going to get some sleep during the night. And Mars was probably already up and about, so his tossing and turning wouldn't keep her awake. Hopefully, he’d gotten a good sleep in today. His nightmares were so physical that he disturbed her reading (and sleep, when she tried). She had been sleeping in her old bed across from Levity's the past few weeks - opting to spend time with her best friend instead of sitting through the (very) troubling bouts of restlessness Ronan was prone to. She slung her bag of parts and her own laptop off her shoulder and entered the darkened room before giving a half-hearted feel with her powers to see if she was alone. She was. She dropped off her bag and headed for the workshop instead. After that, it was the Danger Room and so on. When she came to the door, she realized the lights were out before she even entered. That was odd. They were always on. She pushed the door open tiredly, and when she peered in, she saw the silhouette of Mars' head and shoulders against one of the computer monitors. "Hey stud," she smiled and entered fully, her hand clinging unnecessarily to the doorknob after she shut it. Mars stared at the computer screen trying to control his anger. It wasn't working. He felt Zap approaching the lab, getting angrier by the second. Ever since Ronan had been turned, Zap had been avoidant. Her spending the entire evening with Pete was the straw that broke the fucking camel's back. It wasn't just the fact that it was Pete she was with, however. Zap had been spending time with all of the other 'vampires', except him. Her husband. All of the other vampires seemed to be getting on fine. They didn't need her. He did. He'd been nightmare free for a long time. They had returned shortly after his transformation and were more violent than before. He'd had to stow his gun in the drawer of the nightstand instead of on top of it, so as not to shoot her on accident. She wouldn't come near him sexually, either. He'd tried several times to be intimate with her, but she'd expressed discomfort each time, so he stopped trying all together. Her uncertainty was pissing him off. He hadn't harmed her once, but she acted as if he'd gotten the plague... yet she spent most of her time with the other plagued... it made no sense. When Zap entered the room, Ronan kept his gaze on the screen. "Go to bed." he told her shortly, "I don' wanna fuckin' look at ye right now." Her hand fell from the knob and the smile fell from her face. "What?" she'd heard him, of course, and she knew they both hated stupid questions, but she had no idea why he was rejecting her company. "Ronan?" she moved forward and brought her hands together. Her stomach had knotted up immediately. He hadn't even turned around. He just barked for her to leave him alone. Either he had been doing something embarrassing (crying?) or, well, she wasn't sure. She hadn't done or said a damned thing wrong. Her feet moved her forward (as well as her worrisome nature), and she pried her hands apart so that she could rest one on his shoulder. He still hadn't turned. "Are you okay?" What he had said was harsh, he knew it, but it was how he felt. Ronan knew if he let his feelings win out that he'd probably end up hurting her. He almost wanted to. Instead of doing as he said, she came to him. The hand on his shoulder made him tense. "No. I'm not." He moved to stand, which knocked her hand off and he pushed the chair sideways. He turned to face her in the dim light. "I've had enough. Ye won' talk ta me, ye won' touch me, and now ye act like everythin' should be just fine when I finally get tired of yer shit." He clenched his jaw, fighting to keep himself in control. "I've told ye once before, if it's not me ye want, let me fuckin' know." She almost flinched when he stood, but held her ground. She did move back some to keep from being hit by the chair. Zap frowned fiercely when he began, and by the end, she was clenching her jaw as well. "It is you," the damned retard. Of course she wanted him. She'd done everything she could to get him and keep him. But now that he'd become infected, for the first time since she'd met him, she didn't know how to respond to Ronan Murphy. Anything she thought of doing was weighed in her mind, in relation to him... she didn't want to risk losing him. But apparently inaction was worse than screwing up. "I want you," she furrowed her eyebrows and made to lift her hand. She wanted to touch him. She lowered it again, instead. The first time hadn't gone so well. "Why didn't you say anything before now?" she demanded. He always let things bottle up until he flipped out - and not just with her. "I shoulda, seein' as it seems ye won' touch me unless I request it." he said heatedly, looking into her face. He wanted her too, of course. His body wanted to end the conversation and fuck her. God damn it. "I don' know what yer thinkin'. And I know I scare the hell outta ye, even if ye won' admit it." He scared nearly everyone, it seemed. He closed his eyes and ran his hand through his hair in a frustrated manner. "I don't know what you're thinking," she countered. "If you wanted a slutty mind-reader, maybe you should go fuck Emma." She sneered at him, nostrils flaring, hands on hips now. He didn't scare her. He was so full of himself. Her teeth ground together, "I've told you once before. You're a coward. I've never known you not to take something you wanted." Why was she the only thing he didn't pursue like his life depended on it? "I'd rather fuck my thoughtful wife." Ronan snapped. "Ye've never even asked about the nightmares. Ye just run on up ta yer old room fer Prozac hugs from yer mute friend." He took a step forward, looking down at her. "I'm not a coward." he said quietly, "We're together now. I thought we both had what we wanted." He lifted his hand and brought it to her face, attempting to cup her cheek lightly. Thoughtful wife. Zap was thoughtful. Kissing his ass for years was thoughtful, right? Oh. The nightmares. She closed her eyes briefly while he spoke and when she opened them again, they were filled with guilt. She winced slightly when he spoke so quietly. It was never a good sign. And finally, it almost broke her heart when he said he had what he wanted. She was supposed to be content now, too. To some extent, she was. They were together, yes, but for how long? "I want to be with you forever." Now, forever wasn't the same for them both... Her eyes were glistening with tears, both of anger and sadness, and she tensed when she saw his hand coming toward her face. She wanted to purr. But the mention of Eddie and the fact he was hinting that she was running out on him, well, it was enough to make her flinch away from his hand. Her head turned to the side and she tucked her chin against her shoulder. "Don't." Instead of dropping his hand, Ronan moved it to the back of her neck, forcing her head back to it's original position. "Look at me." he demanded, not removing his hand. He wanted to be with her forever as well. "I don' wanna lose ye." Voicing that took his mind to another place. His gaze moved from her face down to her neck. No. He couldn't. But now that he'd thought about it, the temptation was stronger than ever to ignore. If Zap were like him, then she would understand. He would make her understand. "Forever, ye said?" his eyes locked with hers before his head lowered and in a matter of seconds his teeth (canines extended) sank into the hollow of her shoulder, injecting the venom stored within. She tasted as wonderful as he had imagined. Better, even. His arms had slipped around her, and held her to him as he drank. Her breath hitched when he grasped her neck and turned her head back to look at him. She watched his eyes as he admitted he didn't want to lose her. God, yes. She felt the same way, and instead of struggling against him, she felt grateful that he was being physical with her at all. It always made her feel wanted when he came after her. It was nice to be pursued... "Yes." She nearly hissed the 's' on the end of her answer as she stared back into his eyes. She didn't blink. Her heart was racing, however, and she felt herself begin to flare up with energy. No, she couldn't hurt him. She directed the power that was building back inward, but his gaze broke from hers and she felt his teeth sink into her shoulder; the soft place above her collar bone. She couldn't move - or think. The room began to buzz around them, and the dimness was diminished as the lights flickered on and off through the ceiling. Fuck! It hurt... she felt a sob stop in her throat and she couldn't breathe or speak. Her arms fell from him and instead of pulling back, she winced and curled forward against him - both wishing it would stop and wanting him to hold her tighter. A current moved across both of them, popping and sparking with each pass over the moisture that was running over her shoulder and down her chest under her sweater. It was her blood... Her blood was making her shirt wet. Her eyes remained closed and she pushed her face against his neck in turn, still struggling to breathe. It didn't matter. She couldn't feel the wetness against her anymore, or his arms. Just the pain. And she was out. Now that he'd started the process, in order to save Zap from even more pain he had to finish it. Draining her, so the enzyme could take over faster. There was Zap to consider and there was also the fact that Jean had caught on to what was happening. He'd felt her power flare when he'd touched Zap and now Brian and Joe were on their way. Britannic was moving quickly. Fuck.
