Entry tags:diamond, psylocke

Who: Diamond, tag Psylocke
When: Friday, October 17th
Where: Xavier's; Memorial Garden (8:50 PM)
What: Come to the dark side, we have cookies.
Status: in progress
Rating:  PG-13  For bitchy sequences and intense hair flipping.

Outside of her personal choices, Emma Frost knew she had a job to do. She had come to Xavier's only after the Cure Virus incident, and as a last resort. Their connections in the past had been rocky. No, Emma Frost had never been loyal to Charles Xavier. She was loyal to one man...

With Hank's return and the news of the advanced virus, Diamond had received some other news as well. News of survival... news of restoration, of a rival... and news of change. It would seem Dr. McCoy wasn't the only powerful man who had found himself infected with the strange and erotic exotic disease. Emma knew with her own abilities and the psychic defenses of the Upir-infected that she had a clear chance to do something quite helpful for her old ally and perhaps return to his good graces with a full purse. After devising her ploy (which was shared prudently with Beast), she lined up her victims. She knew their trials and the thoughts that plagued their minds just as well as they did (and without having to prod too deep). She also knew their newest haunts, and it was no coincidence that Emma had been spending more and more time outdoors after dark than ever before. Tonight, she would set her plan in motion...

As she made her way through the sham of a memorial garden, she called out to her fellow telepathically-inclined femme after setting eyes on the girl. You know, I thought it was a pity before you were infected that you held yourself up in your room... all cooped up... letting their judgments direct your path... Isn't now the time to show them what they missed? Emma smiled, a wicked (but sincere) smile as she stepped up closer to the other blonde. "You are looking well, Miss Braddock." The girl had gone from catwalk wanderer to tigress, surely. It was a shame she had let that little smudge of a brunette bully her into slinking around out of sight. "So well, in fact, that I think it is criminal that your twin is the only one who sets eyes on you regularly."

Elisabeth had sensed Emma Frost way before she began speaking to her via telepathy. Her powers as well as her senses, had been growing at an exponential rate since she had become infected with the Upir Virus. Everyday (especially at night) she could feel how much her abilities had grown, and while at first she had been nervous and a little scared at what this could mean, Betsy was beginning to see how this could work her advantage.

Flattery wasn't totally unexpected from Diamond, but it no doubt brought a small smile (or would that be smirk) to Betsy's pallid countenance. It was always nice to know you were still attractive and when it came from someone of Emma Frost's caliber, you would know it to be true. However she hadn't really been seeking out a companion in the night; in fact it was safe to say Psylocke had come out here to get away from people - including her beloved twin brother, Brian.

God love him, but he was grating on her nerves in a big way. Of course, she knew he was only checking in on her and force feeding her making her eat for her own good, but was she not old enough to be making these sort of decisions on her own? And as of that moment, Betsy had no love for solid foods, as she much preferred the synthetic blood - not that she had much else to compare it to. Though the vampiric, blonde ex-model was very keen on sampling the real deal, doing so in the presence of the company she held would not be very wise.

"Why thank you, Ms. Frost," Betsy replied, while the smirk widened on her face. "You aren't looking too bad yourself, darling." While Emma Frost was a bitch in every sense of the word, there was no denying the White Queen wasn't quite the beauty herself.

Why have you come to find me? Betsy knew it was only a matter of a taking a peek into her fellow telepath's mind to find the answer, but she was getting a little bored standing out there all on her lonesome.... Why not find out the normal way?

"Spare me, Betsy," Emma smirked. She felt like shit, honestly. She knew she didn't look much better. It was difficult to keep yourself up with the world in such a condition. Things would change. She smiled at that thought and moved so she was close to Miss Braddock, then looked at her, blue eyes to blue eyes. "I wanted to speak with you about a venture of your father's... about your inheritance, so to speak." The Braddocks were family-oriented, right?

"A number of great men and women had been involved in a secret society before the Cure Virus epidemic, myself included. I knew your father through this organization." Diamond's smile was fond here, not at all deceitful. "I am sure you or your brother overheard whispers of the Hellfire Club?" Her eyes narrowed conspiratorially and her smile drew up to one side. Emma saw no need to beat around the bush. But these infected mutants had unpredictable tides; she needed to test the water.

Aah, yes. The Hellfire Club. It just so happened Betsy had heard of the exclusive, secret organization before - or at the very least, whispers of its existence among the trust-fund crowd. In fact, she had even attended a few soirees that had been sponsored by the club, supposedly. Of course, no one could confirm it, because it technically wasn't supposed to exist. It was like you knew they existed, but you didn't know they existed. Secret societies were big on deception, after all....

So their father had been apart of it? It honestly didn't really surprise her. He was the type of person who would've been part of such a venture, as Ms. Frost so eloquently put it.

"Of course we have," Elisabeth replied, eying her fellow blonde with an added interest. Oh goody, did she have some sort of proposition up her sleeve? The odds of it seemed favorable, but Betsy didn't want to assume. "What about it, Emma?"

"The surviving members are seeking out the heirs of the seats in the Inner Circle." Diamond said, rather bluntly. "Not only are yourself and your brother of noble birth, but your membership is predestined, and you, my dear," she smiled a rather twisted smile here, "are of the mutant elite now." The Upir. "I have been in contact with our Black King. He requests me to offer you a place amongst us." Emma began to pace a semi-circle around Betsy, all the while glancing into the younger woman's eyes for reactions. "You are desired, both your company and your skill. There is an elite class of mutants now, and they survive and commune in order to help bring balance to the struggle between human and mutant. Each member is involved in homo sapiens society, under the radar. They work to ensure our kind have a hand in all dealings - from the government to the media. Of course, with your background, you would just be a shoe-in, wouldn't you?"

Betsy listened politely (or as politely as she could these days) while Emma explained to her what was on her mind and of what her true intentions for this clandestine meeting of theirs.

So, the Inner Circle had positions available? Admittedly, Psylocke was intrigued and she assumed this was an open invitation; an offer on the table for her to either accept or decline. Obviously it was or Emma wouldn't have been approaching her in secret like this.

Betsy took a few moments to mull over what had been said, trying to determine if this was something she really wanted to do. Rejecting the invite would leave her to continue struggling with the many desires and urges she was feeling at all times of the day or night. There at the mansion, she had to be so careful not to close control.

Ms. Braddock had been weighing her options for a couple weeks now, trying to figure out what to do with herself. The more she had thought about it, the more she realized that the mansion wasn't the right place for her anymore. Everyone was so afraid of her and others like her. It was very discouraging to walk the halls when everyone expected the very worse of your nature to come out. People who were supposed to be her friends - their friends.

Oh, how Betsy wanted to grab them by their petulant little throats and throttle the lot of them into oblivion.

After her fellow telepath had stopped talking, Betsy spoke up. "Haven't I always been of the elite, Emma-dear?" Betsy said, taking a step closer to Diamond. She mirrored Emma's own twisted smile. "I already know I'm a shoe-in." I'm interested.

Hmmm. Partway through her own words, Emma had begun picking up on Betsy's positive reception of her proposition. Now, the little butterfly seemed deviously interested - even despite her mental confirmation. "You have, indeed. But now you will be amongst friends." 'Friends' here meaning 'others of the same caliber'. None of these farm brats and do-gooders, wasting away their lives over school children that would sooner kill themselves with their own mutations than stand up for their rights as mutants.

Good. Betsy was cocky. But she new how to play the game - how to turn a phrase with social grace so that even the worst insult could be delivered in good company and no one be the wiser. That was what was required in order to serve under the Black King.

"Perhaps then, you would speak with your brother on the matter?" Brian Braddock was a gem to be sought after, despite his rather noble and white knightish tendencies. He had power, and all the other things that could only help the Hellfire Club along. In Emma's interest, he was a delicious piece of man candy that she couldn't see herself being deprived of. "Old flames die hard." And Brian was no doubt Betsy's oldest, however recent their sexual encounters had been. "You and your brother could be together and live exactly how you preferred. No one would judge you or look down their noses at you." Emma paused and laughed, "How could they?" I know you have stopped seeing you brother... I also know that neither of you are completely satisfied with that arrangement. Betsy was pent up. Even if it wasn't Brian she was hankering for, Emma could at least plant the seed.

Betsy would try to speak to her brother, but there was no guarantee he'd even consider signing up with the lot of them. The Hellfire Club, despite its prestige, had a dubious reputation among those who knew or knew of its existence. And her dear brother wasn't really into getting involved in something that would further tarnish his good name. It would definitely take some convincing on her part to get him to even listen to what she had to say on the matter. But she supposed she could give it a shot....

"I'll see what I can do," Betsy replied. "I can't make any promises, of course." However, Elisabeth's expression become a little ridged at her following comment. She knew that everyone was privy to what had had happened between herself and her brother, but it was a sore subject to be touched upon and she hated when people brought it up. The Upir Virus only added to the agitation.

"We aren't planning to get together like that again," Betsy said rather tersely. No matter how tempting that sounded to her right now, she knew it wasn't a path she wanted to travel down again. Besides that, wasn't Brian seeing Jubilee again? Last thing she wanted to do was have a hand in ruining another one of his relationships with a woman.

Emma had to suppress the need to roll her eyes at Betsy's guarded reaction. "Of course when I said 'together', I meant side-by-side without prying, judging eyes. Whatever you would choose to do or not to would be perfectly acceptable within our company." She smiled, politely, but with knowledge in her eyes. "Your brother sees every step you take as a danger toward you tripping. How would he view this escapade?" It was true that the larger Braddock was quite protective of his sibling. Perhaps Betsy could use that to her advantage? Or disadvantage, depending on just how clever a girl Elisabeth was...

"I do apologize for misspeaking, I didn't mean to offend. In all fairness, however, I've dealt with several 'cases' similar to yours and each time I've found that there was nothing shameful about the situation, or harmful, for that matter. Not 'cases' at all. It's a pity that our society is still so..." her right hand twirled, as if the left hand was at the base of a champagne glass, "restrained." Being a sex therapist, Emma wasn't simply one of the hundreds of sets of judging eyes or minds at the school. She, of all people, understood their desires and had a completely neutral outlook on the subject. "But when all is said and done, I know you don't need your brother dogging about after you. And you are aware that he knows that as well. So if you take your leave and he isn't by your side, well, nothing is lost."

Nothing would be lost? Betsy had plenty to lose at this point and losing Brian was one of the things she feared the most. Betsy had spent a good portion of her young adult life being away from him (and pushing him away. She had even almost lost her own life in the scheme of things. She really didn't want to go living without her brother close by again, no matter how annoying he had become in recent days.

But was her need to get away from the mansion stronger than her need to remain close to her twin brother? She didn't have a definitive answer for that question. Yet.

"I realize that, Emma," Betsy continued, still sounding somewhat put off. Diamond might not have meant to offend her, but it still had come across that way. It wasn't like Emma Frost wasn't known to be a button-pusher. "I don't need anyone to lead me around by the hand; I can go at this alone if I so choose." A look of determination reflected within her own blue eyes, as she said this.

Betsy prided herself on being independent. She knew if push came to shove, she could take care of herself. She didn't need Brian, but it would've been nice if he decided to come along.

With the retcon in consideration, should we just assume Emma's seed was planted in Betsy's brain and let her stew on it?
