It was lunchtime, and while most people were all too happy to be able to not have to look at a computer screen for a while, Eva felt quite the opposite. Lunchtime didn't mean "break from the computer" time for Ms. Garza; when she left the confinements of the computer labs, Eva brought along her laptop to toy with, while she ate her food. Some probably would think this to be very unhealthy behavior, but for her it was completely normal. Then again, not everyone had such a deep bond with electronics like she did. Though, it probably wouldn't kill her to ditch the computers for more than five minutes and enjoy some face-to-face social time with real people.
Today, however, Eva decided to leave her little office space to eat in the kitchen for a change. Normally, she would have rushed into the kitchen to grab whatever she could and take it back up to her bedroom. But, today--for whatever reason--she wanted to take her time and make a Cuban sandwich. It had only taken her about fifteen minutes of her time to whip up her craving and by the time the clock read 12:30, she was already playing a game of Scrabble, while simultaneously checking her regularly visited websites - most of which were woefully outdated.
Silver-framed glasses were perched precariously on the end of Eva's nose, as her dark eyes scanned each headline on the screen carefully. The Cure Virus seemed to be the story of the hour, of course. Though, Eva did find it vaguely disturbing that people were still obsessing over celebrities, while the world was going to hell in a hand-basket. She supposed it was a means for escape from the grizzly reality of the situation; but, she could hardly imagine anyone cared about Britney Spears' latest exploitations - even if they were many weeks old. They were probably much too busy trying not become part of the infected's menu to worry about such trivialities.
An uneasy sigh escaped her, after she finished reading one of several hundreds of articles about the Cure Virus. Was she worried? You're damn right she was. She was mainly worried about her family back in California. She didn't know what she'd do if anyone she knew got infected by this highly contagious illness.... Eva was very happy to know that most of the X-Men were working 'round the clock to find a cure. She just prayed to God that they weren't going to be too late.
