Explanation of link: I stumbled across this yesterday (looking up parts of a laser printer and how to clean them) and it's prettty neat. There are how to guides for more subjects than I can imagine here.

Name of site: Possible Occupations in HP 'verse

Warnings: n/a except this is some random RP game and on gj - therefore it might disappear.
Explanation of link: Someone put together a fascinating list of possible careers for rpg characters, divided into categories. Nor am I suggesting any of the game mods on this list should consider recreating it to preserve its awesomeness. Really, I'm not. No matter how cool an idea this is. Since mods from both of my games are on this flist. But it's not a suggestion.

Explanation of link: A site linked to many versions of dictionaries that allows you to make your own word-lists.  A great time-waster, but also a great self-buildable resource.

Name of site: How to write an arousing sex scene

Warnings: It's an adult link featuring links to slash fanfiction
Explanation of link: resonant8 from Lj lists several suggestions about writing sex scenes, it's an interesting read. The title is a little misleading, I think, it's more about focusing on one thing during a scene and sticking to that idea.

Explanation of link: THE HP site.  The first place to stop for any information on the Harry Potter books.  Lists of so much here.  If you can't find it here, you'll probably have to dig through the books to find it.

Explanation of link: Similar to the Internet Theatre Database, but focusing only on Broadway shows, and therefore a bit more comprehensive, if less easy to read.

Explanation of link: Similar to IMDb, but unfortunately not as centralized, or as complete.  A good listing of Broadway shows, at the very least, and a great way to find a show if you need a show for a story you're writing in NYC.  At least good for looking up what was showing there when.

Explanation of link: Direct from the site: "Tropes are devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations. If a trope gets used too much, then it becomes clichéd. The word cliché means stereotyped and trite. In other words, dull and uninteresting."  This site is a list of those ideas that are used and re-used ad infinitum.  It's a great resource when you're running out of ideas, or the idea you have is running out of steam.  Or just to see how wide-reaching these ideas can be.

Explanation of link: A simpler database than IMDb, but very up-to-date when it comes to the latest news releases from the studios, and the scheduled release dates for movies.

Explanation of link: The biggest and best reference for movies online.  Want to know when a movie came out, or what movies were playing in a certain year?  Check it here.  It's user-driven, but generally accurate.
