Shawn cringed and put his hand to his mouth. It had been a while since he'd lost control like this. At least with someone other than Hunter. He couldn't remember anything about the night before. That had happened a few other times and it scared the hell out of him. "Hunter... I should've taken him up on his offer and stayed at his place tonight instead of being on the road." He looked at the clock on the dresser, eight AM. He still had time to sneak out and go back to his hotel room. The thoughts that plagued him every full moon started to come back. "Why me? Why did someone have to get this stupid curse put on me?"
Actually Shawn knew that the curse was from Bret. It couldn't be a coincidence that not long after the "Screwjob" a strange lady showed up at the hotel room he and Hunter were sharing. A nice full moon was out. She muttered some mumbo jumbo and he had fallen over like a ton of bricks. When Hunter asked her what she had done to him, the woman said that someone had come to her to make Shawn pay, they hadn't said what to do to her so she picked a random curse for him.
And that was the night that Hunter and Chyna almost thought they had gone crazy. They had helped Shawn hide the curse before he left the WWE- WWF at the time- and eventually Vince and the McMahon family were let in on the secret. Sure his back had been killing him, but he couldn't stay in the company while every full moon he changed into- into- a woman.
What's so wrong with that? Shawn had discovered that his female side was quite unpredictable. Hunter along with Rebecca and Stephanie had pinpointed several different personalities that his female side could have. One was just normal old Shawn, the only difference was the gender. Then there was the mopey and emotional part, those nights were usually spent crying and feeling sorry for himself. The angry pissed off bitch, Hunter's favorite, a raving angry lunatic. Then there was that last part, the part that had caused Rebecca to divorce him not long after Wrestlemania XIX. The part that had him in his current predicament.
That thought snapped Shawn back to the present. He picked up a pair of jeans and slid them on. The guy was definitely taller than he was. Shawn walked over to the bed, dying to know who the man was he wouldn't be able to look in the face ever again was. He gently pulled the covers back and gasped as he felt his stomach lurch. "Oh my God. It's Edge." He almost fell over trying to pick of the remnants of the clothes he had been wearing last night. A few minutes later and Shawn was out the door and going back to his room.
As soon as he reached his hotel room he dialed Hunter's cell phone number hoping he'd be up. It was the first full moon since he had come back to the WWE without Hunter and boy had he screwed up. "Come on... Pick up."
Hunter's voice mail had picked up. "This is Paul. I'm not here leave a message."
"It's Shawn, I really need you to call me back. Like as soon as possible." Shawn hung up the phone and laid down on the bed. He covered his face and let out a groan of frustration. Now he'd probably have to tell Copeland the truth, the "exclusive circle" growing another person bigger. How many people knew now? "Besides the McMahon's, The Kliq, and my immediate family... That makes Austin, Jericho, Benoit, Ric, and now Adam."
Steve Austin was the only one in that group that ever really had him worried. Steve found out not long before their Wrestlemania match. Shawn had changed right in front of him, it was an accident, he'd forgotten what night it was. The Texas Rattlesnake had promised to keep quiet in exchange for a "favor". The sex wasn't all that bad, it was just hard to get over the fact that Shawn woke up the next morning cuddling with him. Steve wasn't winning Mr. Personality but, at least now he greeted him with something more than a grunt or a "whatever" mumbled under his breath.
Chris Jericho- oddly enough- was perfectly fine with Shawn. It happened on one of the nights he couldn't remember. He woke up the next morning and Jericho was standing over him saying he just saw him change. Chris also said he was cool with it and never really brought it up again. Contrary to what was going on in the story line he had no intention of ending Shawn's career. In fact after the events before Wrestlemania XIX he could've sworn that maybe just maybe Chris had been dying to sleep with him.
It was after that Wrestlemania that Rebecca had told Shawn that she'd had enough. He was still wishing that he'd never told her about Chris. She'd also asked him if ever thought he was gay. No. He wasn't attracted to Chris or Steve or Hunter when he was guy. His female "slutty" side however was attracted to anything that had the potential to fuck her into the mattress.
That's when Hunter and him had made an arrangement that no matter what, when the full moon was that night, they were rooming together. Normally nothing ever happened then- Shawn chuckled to himself. His female side had a history of being attracted to his Wrestlemania opponents. To make that long story short Hunter, Shawn and Chris Benoit got in a Triple Threat of their own in the hotel room before the one at Wrestlemania 20. For Wrestlemania 21 he told Hunter to strap him to a chair should his female side decide to go "talk" to Kurt Angle. That was the night Ric found out, he was asked by Hunter to help babysit. And for 22 Shawn avoided Vince McMahon as much as possible and even flew to Texas the night of the full moon. The last thing he wanted was to- it made his stomach turn at the mere thought of it- end up in bed with Vince.
It was at that moment that Shawn realized. "I'm not in a match with Adam at Wrestlemania this year! I'm in a match with Cena!" As soon as he thought that his phone rang. "Hello?"
"Hey it's me. What did you want?"
Shawn sat up and got straight to the point. "I fucked Copeland." He'd been good for a little while after the divorce but slowly certain words had found their way back into his vocabulary.
There was a pause at the end of the other line. Hunter was obviously taking the time to process what he'd just said. "WHAT?! YOU DUMB ASS!"
"Yeah, I know." Shawn put the phone to the ear that wasn't damaged from Hunter's screaming. "So should I tell him?"
"Did he see you change?"
"No."
"Then don't, and next full moon get your ass up to Connecticut so I can keep an eye on you." There was another pause. "And try not to get excited during that Triple Threat match."
"Oh shit." Shawn stood up and stretched. "I forgot about that." A number one contenders match was set for RAW the following Monday. Well, it was Friday if he could go until Monday without seeing Adam everything would fine. "Hang on... STOP THAT!" He had just realized that Hunter had told him to not get excited during the match.
"A little slow today?" Hunter chuckled.
Shawn looked at himself in the mirror. Sometimes if he looked long enough he could swear he could his female side staring back at him. That day was no exception, in fact, his reflection seemed to look perfect like a woman. "I gotta go. I'll talk to you later."
"Something wrong?"
"No." Shawn looked down at himself seeing that his body wasn't the same as it was in the reflection. "I just wanna get a shower and get ready to leave."
"Okay. Bye."
Shawn hung up the phone and walked over to the full length mirror. Staring back at him was the female version of him. It was odd, he thought he might be hallucinating but still crossed his hands over his chest.
"Oh stop it!" The reflection spoke back to him. "It's your body you're lookin' at."
He blinked and rubbed his eyes. "I'm goin' crazy." When he looked back in the mirror it was just his regular reflection. Yep, the Heartbreak Kid was just staring back at him, sans breasts. Shawn thought about it quite a few times how no one ever noticed him when he was a woman. Hell, he figured that's exactly what he would've looked like had his mother gotten her wish for a girl. What he also thought was even though he had obviously aged over the almost ten years the curse was in affect, his female side still looked like she wasn't even thirty. A knock at the door tore Shawn away from from staring at his reflection. "Who is it?"
"It's Adam!"
"Shit." Shawn scrambled around the room pulling Adam's jeans off and pulling on his own pajama bottoms. Adam knocked again. "Hold on a minute!" He shoved the jeans into his suitcase and took a deep breath before opening the door. "Hey what's up?"
Adam stood there with a puzzled and hurt look on his face. "I woke up this morning and I found this in the floor of my room." He held out a Visa card for him. "Michael Hickenbottom?"
Shawn inwardly groaned. "Guess she had a field night with the no limit card." He took the card from him and started turning it over in his hands nervously. "Thanks for bringing it back."
"I didn't steal it I swear."
"I believe you." He was just wanting him to leave as quickly as possible. "I'll see ya later." He started to close the door.
"Can I talk to you about something Shawn?"
Shawn gritted his teeth and took another deep breath. "Yeah."
Adam sighed and ran his hands through his blonde locks. "I met this girl at a bar last night. She was... SMOKIN' HOT."
Shawn smirked. "Why am I flattered by that?"
Adam continued to tell his story while he was thinking to himself. "So I invited her back to the hotel room. I mean we talked for a little while and then you know things kinda-"
"I don't want anymore details." Shawn didn't really want to know all that happened.
Then Adam's slight smile turned into a frown. "And this morning I wake up and she's gone."
Now Shawn felt really bad. Here was the man he had slept with the night before- granted he wasn't a he at the time and he had no control over the situation- looking absolutely destroyed at the fact he'd left him. "I'm sorry Adam."
"It's alright I guess." Adam looked away and shrugged. "Sorry if I woke you up. But, I just wanted to bring that card to you." He still looked confused. "You haven't been in my room. I wonder how it got in there."
"I don't know. See ya Monday." Shawn promptly slammed the door in his face.
Well this complicated things.
