Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Characters: Alice Proulx and Frank Longbottom (plus appearances by her family)
Setting: Alice's house, Wednesday December 26, evening
Summary: Frank comes to visit
Rating / Status: We'll go with G for now, and the thread is in-progress

After her grandparents had apparated home, and her father had gone to work for a few hours, Alice helped her mother clean up the house. David and Henri kept asking when Frank was going to get there, and Alice just giggled and promised that he would be there soon. It was really cute how much they loved her boyfriend. But it made her happy, because she would hate it if her brothers didn't like him.

As six o'clock neared, Alice made sure that there was a plate of fresh Christmas biscuits -- which she, her mum, and grand-mère had just baked yesterday -- on the table, and her Christmas present for Frank was safely tucked away in her pocket. She'd had to hide it from her brothers, who were at the age where they assumed that anything that was wrapped up was for them.

As Alice sat in the living room, sipping a cup of tea, David and Henri came in, wanting her to put the wheel back on the toy car she'd gotten Henri for Christmas. Right as she got the wheel back on, the flames in the fireplace turned green, and then Frank stepped out. As her brothers broke out in a happy chorus of "FRANK!" Alice stood up and walked over to greet him. "Happy Christmas, Frank," she greeted with a smile.

Frank was grinning from ear to ear when he appeared, though there was a bit of soot on his shoulder that he brushed off with a laugh, surprised by the cheering of his name. He had spent a good deal of time that morning getting cleaned up and wrapping not only Alice's gift but a gift for Henri and David.

"Happy Christmas, Alice dear, and to you two, as well, Henri and David!" He beamed at the lot of them, holding out the wizard chess set he had gotten the boys for them, knowing it would not be a long time at all for the package were he to try and keep it away, "I do hope you like it!" He offered as he watched the young boys set at the wrapping, his eyes darting to Alice. He never could keep his eyes from her long when she was in the room, after all.

"YAY!" The twins chorused when Frank handed them a present. They immediately sat down on the floor and tore at the wrapping. Alice giggled, watching her brothers, then looking back up at Frank. "OH COOL!" Henri cried as they revealed the wizard chess set. "NEAT!" David chimed in.

"Henri, David, what do you say?" Alice scolded lightly with a smile.

"THANK YOU FRANK!" the boys said in unison, looking up at Frank before back down at the chess set.

Alice smiled and gave Frank a kiss (which earned an "eww!" from the twins). "Thank you, Frank," she said. "That was really sweet of you, bringing them a present."

Frank smiled as broadly as manageable at the 'Thank you' and he nodded, licking his lips from the nervousness he had had over the twins liking it or not. "You're very welcome, boys!"

He smiled into the kiss, blushing a bit at the 'ew' but still enjoying it nonetheless, "Well, of course I brought them something, I knew if I didn't, I'd have two very unhappy young fellows, wouldn't I?" He teased the boys before holding up a little box for Alice, "I brought you something as well, dear,"" He was nervous about his gift for her, a simple bracelet of silver with a sign for eternity on the inside engraved by a 'F&A'. He was building up to giving her a ring, really, but for now, he would see how she took the bracelet.

Alice smiled. She absolutely loved how good Frank was with her brothers. He would be a good father, one day. Blushing a little, Alice took the box and carefully unwrapped it -- a lot more demurely than her brothers had unwrapped their's -- and gasped when she saw it. "Oh, Frank, it's beautiful!" Gently lifting the bracelet out of the box and setting the box and wrapping paper on the nearby coffee table, she read the engraving on the inside. "I love it."

She held the bracelet out to him, offering her right wrist. "Help me put it on?"

Frank sort of shifted his weight from foot to foot as he watched her unwrap, nervous to the reception as he waited what seemed ages. Finally, she had it out and she seemed very pleased and he was smiling almost more so than her with delight. He easily stepped forward when she offered the wrist and nodded, "Of course, dear," He said quietly as he took it and clasped it with a tiny "Mm." Then took her hand in his, admiring how lovely her wrist looked with the bracelet on, and how lovely her hand was in his.

"I'm so glad you like it."

Alice admired the way the bracelet looked on her wrist, too, then beamed up at Frank. "I'm never going to take it off." And she wouldn't, either. She would never dream of taking the bracelet off.

"Now it's your turn." Luckily, the small box she had wrapped for Frank was in her left pocket, so she didn't have to take her hand from his just yet. Reaching into that pocket with her free hand, she took out a small box, wrapped in shiny green paper with a red bow on top. Inside the box was an antique gold pocketwatch, still in excellent condition. It was a Proulx family heirloom, it had belonged to her great-grandfather, and her grandfather had given it to her when he had been visiting just now. All of which would be explained after he opened it. Until then, she waited nervously, hoping he would like it.

"Well, goodness, I'm glad," Frank blushed at that, smiling as he placed a tiny kiss to her hand and then looked at what she was holding in her other hand. Taking the boy when she offered it, he had to let go of her hand to unwrap, giving an apologetic smile when he did so, as if she would find fault in him having to use two hands.

When he got it open, he pulled out the watch and marvelled at it, surprised and delighted, no doubt, by the gift, "Good gosh, look at this. It's beautiful, Alice, just remarkable," He murmured as he opened it and looked it over, "Thank you so much. I love it. No doubt. It's beautiful." He did rather loose track of time enough enough, so this would be very handy. Not even knowing the background of the watch, he was happy as a clam to get it.
