Sabine was sitting in the middle of what was supposed to be her boutique and feeling close to tears. This feeling of hopelessness was highly unusual, but she couldn't keep it at bay any longer. Her vision wasn't working out, the carpenters she'd tried were useless and tried to over-charge, and the whole thing was costing more than she'd anticipated. Of course, it didn't help that she was furiously busy thanks to the flurry of sudden weddings. The flutter of wings provided a welcome distraction from her woes and she got up to see what the owl had brought her.
The note and the roses brought an abrupt change in her demeanour, her lips curving into a wide, unguarded smile and her eyes brightening automatically with delight before a mixture of bafflement and astonishment at the force of her reaction descended. Did he know what long stemmed roses meant? And that orange conveyed the message of fascination and desire? She bit her lower lip, gently touching the rose petals with one finger, trying to figure out the best response. Finally she was satisfied and reply was on the way.
Cassius,
Your company was much appreciated and made the evening far more enjoyable than I anticipated.
Thank you for the roses, they certainly brightened my day.
