February 15, 1998 Characters: Lisa Turpin & OPEN Setting: Monday evening. Library. Just before dinner. Summary: Lisa's reluctantly doing research in the library and while browsing the stacks gets a little startled.
Lisa Turpin wasn't in the best of moods. In fact she'd already deemed this week to be a major disappointment. Majority of the reasoning was because of the past weekend's holiday hitting her strangely harder than it had in the past. Valentines day had always been deemed a useless holiday whenever she were of the single marital status. Course, it never really bothered her much. This year though it seemed the lack of gifts and excess of younger years snogging out in the open only seemed to make the seventh year all the more bitter.
Though Lisa was rarely the sort to wallow in self pity. She shamelessly did so for most of the weekend. Locking herself away claiming she had a great deal to do in preparation for the N.E.W.T's. In reality she laid around the dorm with the curtains of her four poster closed indefinitely. There she ate a whole tin of heart-shaped holiday biscuits she'd bought for herself. And read three brand new romance novels complete from beginning to end that she'd purchased at the last Hogsmeade trip.
Today, it seemed that the holiday of love still left a bad after taste in the young woman's mouth. For the sake of seeming productive, however, she actually set out to do the work she'd claimed she'd been working on all weekend. The fact that she had to make a mandatory trip to the Library didn't brighten her spirits. Unlike the stereotypical Ravenclaw Lisa had always resented going to the library. She'd never been one to legitimize stereotypes and she'd always found the library to be such an annoying place work. People were always there and there were too many little interruptions that broke her focus. She honestly felt she could never get anything done there.
Either way...here she was browsing the stacks.
As she wandered around the endless collection of books Lisa was coming up with nothing. And the more she looked the more she wondered if the research she was doing was going to require her to ask for a pass to the restricted section. As she sighed impatiently and turned the corner at one of the shelves Lisa found herself being startled. As her heart felt as though it'd stopped she jolted a few steps backward and placed a hand on her chest. It took her a moment to comprehend who the someone was that jumped in front of her with their hands outstretched and a crooked sense of amusement as they let out a predatory growl.
