Penny didn't fancy herself an amazing, accomplished chef with the ability to please every palate, but when she put her mind to it she often found that she was above average in the kitchen. Following a recipe from a cookbook, this time The Epicurean Cookbook, came naturally to Penny and most all of her cooking endeavors were edible (to say the very least).
As she had promised Percy the night he gave her the aged cookbook, the very first time she tried a recipe from it she would share the meal with Percy. Fortunately, the mock turtle soup seemed to have pleased him and now they were on to the quarter of lamb with stuffed tomatoes and carrots in a cream sauce. For some reason, Penelope could always find fault in things she did and the main course wasn't an exception. The cream sauce seemed to overpower the taste of the carrots and the lamb was probably a tad bit overcooked.
Glancing over at Percy to see his reaction, Penelope found herself holding her breath and sighed loudly, almost instantly blushing at the sound that came out of her. She cared a great deal about what he thought. Perhaps she cared too much. They hadn't really talked in depth since his arrival and Penelope wasn't in a rush to find out the real reason he wanted to meet up with her. It had been quite awhile since they were able to spend some one-on-one time together.
