Who: Niki Urquhart and Alix Savage.
When: September 24th. 1pm.
Where: WWW.
What: Interview-type-thing.
Rating: Low.
Status: Closed/Incomplete.

Niki hadn't told Braxton that he had an interview. Incase he didn't get it, because he knew that was quite the possibility. It might have surprised people that he had even volunteered. But he thought that Braxton might be pleased if he got a job, and he did have an urge to make Braxton happy. Braxton was one of the only people who was good to him these days and didn't brush him off as a complete nutter.

He had 'borrowed' one of Braxton's shirts though, and did a shrinking spell on it, since he was a good deal smaller than his cousin. He also decided to borrow a tie, because the only ties he had... well, one had skulls on it, the other little cartoon zombies, and he decided that neither was probably a good idea.

So he ended up dressed in a black button up shirt, black trousers and a white tie. He looked a bit like he was going to audition for an undertaker, but at least he was tidy. He even combed his hair.

"We have to be good," he told the voice as he approached the joke shop. Which he had always liked quite a bit. It was so colourful and filled with interesting things. Niki stepped through the doors and his eyes darted around. He had to coach himself not to get distracted, and instead looked for someone who met the lawyer's description.

When he saw him - he did look rather lawyer-y - Niki went over. "Savage?" he asked, because he didn't know the man's first name. Or second name? Well, he only knew one name.

It was a little hard to keep his mind on work when it had just been a couple days since the reappearance of Trish, but he was managing. He had to keep up with his job unless he wanted to get tragically behind. Not to mention, there was something about a new intern and he had been put in charge of determining whether or not a particular soul was fit for the job or not.

He had abandoned his office once George had dumped the massive amount of papers into it. He carried only a few with him in a briefcase, but that was because he was looking over several documents and formulating the basis for an argument defending a particularly amusing case.

Already, he was apprehensive about the one person that had already come forward for the job. He needed help quickly, yes, but he wasn’t willing to hire someone that he didn’t feel he could trust. He got the feeling from the journals that the bloke was a bit...off. Alix had even flipped back through previous entries and it made him that much more wary. The writing looked as if the boy were out of his bloody mind about half of the time. He’d done a bit more research on him as well, the night before. The boy’s name was Nikolai Urquhart...he was from one of the pureblood families that made all wizards look bad with their crazy muggle-hating ideals. However, he was willing to at least enter the situation with a mostly open mind, but he had his reservations. The Auror in him made him wary of all prospects.

As soon as he heard his name, he looked up, instantly appraising the bloke standing in front of him. He was very young to Alix’s eyes...he was dressed presentably, and his hair was combed, but Alix took in the lip piercing, the paleness, and the jet black hair and immediately wondered where he came from. Was that some kind of new trend? “Alixandr Savage,” he amended, straightening up the papers he’d been looking at, “You must be Nikolai.”

So Savagae was his last name. Well that was good, Niki decided, because it would be a rather unfortunate first name. "Hi," he said again and he nodded his head.

"I am. Yes. Niki. People call me Niki." And then, because he was supposed to be making a good impression, he stuck forward his hand to shake. Because that was what people did in these situations! He had to remind himself of all these manners and etiquettes which had once come so naturally to him.

"It's nice to meet you. You work in here?" It didn't seem a lawyery place. The joke shop was delightfully chaotic. Niki enjoyed it quite a bit. But lawyers and chaos didn't seem to go hand in hand.

“It’s nice to meet you as well, Niki,” Alix amended, shaking his hand when it was offered. He wasn’t terribly concerned about being entirely proper with the intern prospect. He had a load of things on his mind, and he just wanted to figure out whether or not this would be suitable and get going.

“ But no, I do not work here, per say. I represent the owners of this fine establishment in court, and they’ve seen fit to overrun my office with their paperwork. Most of it I don’t even have any use for, but at least I’ll have it on hand,” he informed, still trying to assess his character by merely looking at him. He supposed even if he did hire him, if something went wrong, it would be no problem at all to terminate the employment. But he remembered what family he came from. It hadn’t been hard to find out what relations he had and quickly pick out that some of them had been Death Eaters that had either gotten out of Azkaban (probably unjustly) or still remained there (thankfully).

He wondered if Niki realized that he was supposed to be answering questions, not asking them, “Why do you want this job, Niki?” he asked, just because it was a question, and would hopefully put them on some sort of path of coming to a decision.

"In Court?" Niki sounded surprised, as if he couldn't think of a reason why the Weasley twins would ever end up in court. Why, he couldn't imagine it! Of course in his mind, all the things that Fred and George (he could never tell them apart, not even a teeny bit) did were just amusing.

Niki liked asking questions. He did have a remarkable curiosity about the world. Especially when it came to things that other people didn't think of often. He was definitely of the 'why is a raven like a writing desk?' sort. In fact, that was a question he had pondered to some extent, before concluding that they weren't, because ravens were awesome, and writing desks were just furniture. Unless transfiguration was involved.

Oh. There was a thought.

"Well," he replied, thinking through his own question now. "I don't have one?" That was a very good reason for wanting a job! He frowned a little bit. "People think bad things about me." He knew that. He didn't care, for the most part. Strangers, people he didn't know, he didn't care what they thought of him. But there were a few people he did care. Like Braxton.

"I want to show them. That I'm not useless." He might have been mad, but that didn't mean he was stupid!

"People try to sue over product mishaps," Alix said casually. He really didn't want to go into the details in the middle of the store, and he certainly didn't want to talk about it with Niki if he wasn't going to hire him. He doubted that he would speak about it even if he did take on the boy as an intern.

He remained quiet as Niki answered his question, turning over what the lad said in his mind. He didn't really have motivation other than simply wanting to prove his usefulness. So he wasn't out to gain anything specific from working for the twins, and he didn't really seem to be lying.

It twisted his arm a little to think that by dismissing him, he might be labeling him as useless. That wasn't what he wanted, "I can assure you that you're not useless. Perhaps you're not meant to do particular things, but no one is utterly without use," he said. Why he was trying to be the least bit comforting, he wasn't sure. In some ways...when he looked at Niki he almost thought of a child. He seemed a bit harmless.

"This slot is currently only temporary. I'll have to talk with Fred and George about it. If you prove that you can do the job efficiently after a bit of instruction on how I would like it done, then it's possible that you'd be taken on until the task is finished. After that, it would be up in the air as to whether or not another task would be found."

"Oh." Niki looked very thoughtful as he considered this. And decided that it did make sense. There were a lot of explosive products. And products that made people sick. And changed them. And some people got cranky about that sort of thing.

"How do you know?" he asked curiously, because they had only just met! Still, it was rather nice of the man to say so. Niki liked nice people. There were too many rude people out there and cruel.

"I don't mind temporary," he assured the man. "Temporary is better than not at all." Sometimes, he was randomly wise in his simplicity. Any job would be better than no job, and even if it ended, well, it would be a step forward. And Braxton could see that he could work a job! And he could make money. He had some money, from his Mother, who couldn't bear cutting him off, even in his 'weird' state.
