Ellie was trying to be good and stay out of her daycare for a few days. She was afraid that if she went there she'd stand over Stephanie's shoulder and gush at her and distract her from the murals she was doing. She didn't want to do that. It was already absolutely amazing to her that she'd agreed to do it and so Ellie didn't need to be there making her nervous or something. Plus she might squeal a lot or something because she was just so hyped up.
It didn't take her long to realize what she needed to do. She'd been really bad at doing anything for herself lately, too focused on the daycare she was getting together. She'd decided she was going to go through her closet and see what she could put away until next summer. Sure, summer wasn't over yet and it was still warm, but she knew soon it would start to get cooler and she'd need the room for her fall and winter clothes. It didn't take her long to box away things that were strictly summer, shorts and tank tops and various sleeveless tops. The t-shirts and skirts could stay, as could the jeans and whatnot that she wore year round.
The problem came when she opened her fall clothes and she pulled out the first few long sleeved shirts to find moth holes. Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. "No! Didn't I put mothballs or cedar balls in here?" She dug further in, looking for them. She huffed when she couldn't find them and pushed herself up from her kneeling position and looped to her kitchen, digging through the drawers. In the very back she found a number of unopened packages of both and she groaned. "Noooo! All my clothes!"
Horrified didn't cover what Ellie felt when she pulled all the other boxes out and found the majority of her clothes full of tiny holes to bigger holes and she knew she was pouting. She saved what she could, sitting them on her bed to be hung before she bagged up the ruined articles of clothing. "Such a waste," she murmured, putting them to the side to be taken out. There wasn't much left. She had three long sleeved shirts, two sweaters and one sweat shirt. The pants she'd put away had faired better, so there was that at least.
"Shopping!" Her eyes light up at the idea and she wasn't quite as annoyed at herself any longer. Shopping was always fun and she so loved the thrift shops. She'd done a lot of thrifting as a child and never grew out of it. There was something she found so great about being able to go to a thrift shop and buy clothes there. Often she could find something so unique and in such good condition that she didn't understand why other people would spend so much money on something new when what she had was just as good.
Soon enough she found herself in Twice-Tried Threads, wearing a faded t-shirt with cookie monster on it and a pair of well worn blue jeans with sandals on her feet. She might be gearing up for fall and winter, but that didn't mean she was ready to put her sandals away just yet. Her hair was pulled back in a hasty, messy ponytail and she had a scarf partially wrapped on her head and tucked under the ponytail to keep any flyaways from her face. She was picking through some sweaters when a blue one caught her eye and she started to pull on it, only to feel someone else tugging too. Her eyes shot up and a smile broke out on her face when she saw who it was.
"Oriel!" She couldn't help but say his name out loud as she dropped her hold on the sweater and moved to the same side he was on, her arms moving up to wrap him in a hug without asking. "Oh my gosh, it's so good to see you!" She knew that he couldn't hear her or see her mouth moving from where she was, but that didn't stop the words from rushing out of her mouth.
