Stephen Cornfoot had been stooped over a laid out copy of the Prophet when the front door of Tea and Sympathy was pushed open. The bells tied to the door jingled and jangled loudly but they weren't half as loud as the witch who burst forth into the relatively calm store. She paused just five steps into the shop and placed her hands on her hips. Stephen went stiff, laughed nervously and circled around the front counter to greet her.
"Lyra Moon, well look at y-"
"STEPHEN CORNFOOT!"
Stephen stopped dead, eyes widened and he regretted leaving his wand back on the counter. He swallowed hard.
"Uh..."
"Congratulations! Stephanie told me! I can't believe it! I mean, I can, but... you two will be very happy, I'm sure," she closed the gap between them and gave him a small hug before stepping away to settle at a nearby table for two.
"Now, be a dear, raspberry tea? I'm meeting someone," she flashed a smile and crossed her legs as she smoothed her sundress with the palms of her hands. Stephen rubbed the back of his head and sighed.
"As you wish Madame Moon.. who are you meeting? And yeah, thanks."
"Tristan Dunstan," she said.
"Ah, name sounds familiar..."
"A Ravenclaw, older.." she was interrupted by the door opening again and she looked awfully hopeful for a moment but it turned out to be an old pair of cackling witches. Stephen hurried off to greet them and Lyra slumped a bit in her seat with a sigh. She was a little early still so she needed to exercise a bit of patience. It didn't stop her from perking up the next time the bells gave a jingle though.
