"Well, I haven't played in the sand yet today," Jack replied, grinning at the little thief. His sand playing had sorely diminished since he had entered into adulthood - okay, around the time he entered into puberty. But oh, he remembered the good old days of sand castle building. "I've built some pretty good castle though. Where's yours?" he asked conversationally. He liked kids well enough. Was used to them, because many of the piano lessons he gave her to the younger set.
And he was always young at heart!
"Yeah! That was me!" He remembered! Jack felt all wiggly inside because of that. "That was... that was a huge surprise. Really. Huge. Gigantic. Enormous." It was like he had busted out a thesaurus. Which he hadn't. Because he didn't own one. Unless it was a thesaurus that was propping up that one table leg at the flat. Maybe.
"Maisie is a big fan," he agreed, and loyally added, "She's great. Really great. I'm bringing her to the show Kirley gave me tickets to. Her and my other friend Sam. She's a musician too." Which was part of their bond. He speared another piece of chicken with the knife and then wondered how he was going to eat the rice without a fork.
