He respected Oliver. Really, that's what Oliver was looking for. They didn't have to get along - though it would be nice for Meghan's sake - or even like each other if they didn't have to. But as long as Oliver had Kirley's respect, then he could sleep soundly at night knowing that he didn't have to worry about tension with all of the friends and family.
"Thank you. I really do appriciate it. I know me and Megs have had a rocky past, but none of it was done because we didn't care for each other. We initially couldn't handle all of the pressure around us, but now we don't care. We have more important things to worry about other than whether or not the press and the fans want us to be together. This time I plan on being there in the long haul, and having a child is going to be rough on both of us, so we can use all the love and support from family and friends."
Oliver was starting to get a bit twitchy with the bloke from the Prophet being in ear shot. Yeah, he could put up some type of charm so the bloke couldn't hear, but then that would just make the writer even more suspicious then what he probably already was.
"The bloke over there is making me nervous," he said in a low breath. "We're not planning on coming clean with this till after the dust settles from the cup. So I think I'm going to go. But we're okay then?" Oliver asked, holding out a hand to shake.
