Sliding her hood back just slightly, Gretchen matched his gaze, evenly. "Do you know who Khaefre is?" she asked, although she was certain he didn't. Not many did, especially considering his tomb had only just been broken into by curse breakers and not even fully excavated yet. "The protection charms on this idol gave the wards and curses on the tomb a mighty boost. It was nearly impossible for the curse breakers to get through without disabling it first." Gretchen swirled the ice in her glass, idly wishing she hadn't placed the ward on the booth so she could order another.
"Given that the idol was in the tomb at the time, it made it that much harder." She glanced up, an almost smile on her face. Shadows from her hood blocked the proud grin, but it was evident in her tone. "At last count, there were fourteen curse breakers currently clucking around Cairo while Healers try to figure out a cure."
She was proud of this one, in and out in mere moments after piggybacking on the curse breakers work. The best part was, she'd gotten it out in the chaos before the tomb had officially been cleared, so no one even knew it had been there, let alone that it had been stolen and removed from the country.
