September 5, 1997 Characters: Lisa Turpin & Demelza Robins & OPEN Setting: Saturday. 2pm-ish. West Tower Summary: Lisa had to send word home using a school owl. While returning to the common room she runs into Demelza Robins. They chat. Status: complete
They'd been at Hogwarts for all of five days and already Lisa Turpin had received an owl reprimanding her for not writing home once she'd arrived. Honestly, this happened almost every start of term. Her mother had this intrusive need to be reminded that her eldest daughter was capable of riding the Hogwarts Express without dying on the way. And despite the fact that for the last seven years it'd been the same thing...Lisa still found the request for her to write before the first week was even over more than just a little annoying. It was sort of ridiculous, really.
Not only did she have to write some uninteresting letter about a relatively uninteresting first week of classes... but then she had to walk all the way up to the Owlery. An owlery where she was convinced she was rarely welcome. A great number of the owls that resided there had the unfortunate interest in defecating on her whenever she entered. On top of that only two of the owls in there were ever really interested in helping her out. Being one without an owl of her own pickings were slim when only a barn owl and a horned owl were interested in even getting close to Lisa.
After sending her letter off with the trusty horned owl the Ravenclaw descended the west tower slowly. She made a point to examine by sight and tentative touch for any sign of owl shite on her person. Clearing a fresh stain from her jumper with her wand, Lisa moved on to feeling around in her hair. The last thing she wanted was to walk around with owl poo dripping from her brown locks. As she turned the bend of the circular tower steps she stopped abruptly at the sight of another. "Oie," she said without much thought as to who it was. "Could you do me a favour?"
