Anna's Jack

Rose stared at her sandwich a little morosely - not really feeling like eating - but going to make herself unlike some people. She took a bite, a set it down for a second, and saw Jack when she looked up.

Some how she didn't think he was as old as the old she was currently sharing a TARDIS with. There was a something more familiar about how he held himself. She waved at him.

Rose sat down by the lake, head resting on her crossed arms braced on top on her knees. When she heard footsteps she said without looking up, "'M probably not good company right now."

Rose was human and not psychically sensitive. She also hadn't gone looking for her TARDIS-mates, content with her own company for the day.

She was sitting licking an ice cream cone in the park, and didn't know a damn thing.

Rose flopped in a chair in a lobby and announced to no one in particular, "Bored Time Lords are a whole new level of strange."

Like she was talking about hyperactive toddlers. Well. Close enough.

Open (Lis' Rose) - finished

Lucy basically just ran and ran. She wasn't running from Harry, so much as from the memories that had just been dumped into her mind - memories of half a dozen different versions of Harry, most of them alien and one of them very, very frightening - and the knowledge that her Harry wasn't human either, not really. It was just too much to deal with with him standing there in front of her.

She ended up outside the back door of the hotel and just slid down the wall to the ground, heedless of her beautiful red dress in the dirt as she sat there, gazing out into nothingness as she tried to get her head round what had just happened.

The Master was sitting reading a book in the hotel lobby, with his feet propped up when Rose silently came up to him and pretty much curled up in his lap, face against his chest.

Both startled by her forward affection, which was more so than was even usual for her, and worried he asked, "What's wrong?"

She shrugged without looking up. "Nothing new. Just the usual."

He accepted that for the moment, wrapped her in his coat a little, and gently stroked her back. She quickly dropped into a doze, so he picked his book back up, with an arm securely around her.

It was a little strange for him, and he imagined a down right surreal sight for most people who might pass by.

The Master had found a hill. Or made a hill. Whatever. A hill had appeared, and he'd walked up it. Now he was sitting at the top, enjoying being able to look down on the town from outside it.

Not exactly the lord of all he surveyed, but he did like feeling on top of things.

Rose sat in the park with a botany book and a oak leaf, under the tree the leaf had come from.

"Quercus pet- petraea," she slowly sounded out, or "Quercus robur? I am even looking at the right subgenus?"

Becky's Former Mr. Smith

Rose peered at a bright blue lizard on tree limb. Caught the familiar figure out of the corner of her eye and asked the Doctor, "That color is more a tropical thing, isn't it? Seems like bad camouflage. Well, guess this place didn't exactly evolve."

Lis' Rose

Lucy was trying on clothes in one of the several designer stores the town now sported. She'd spotted Captain John Hart from a distance the other day and that had reminded her that they'd planned to have dinner some time. So she was looking for something new to wear when she went knocking on John's door.

Unfortunately, she was feeling conflicted about what to choose. She was in the dressing room modelling a satiny little black dress when she heard someone else come into the store. Perhaps they could help her make up her mind.

She went to the door and leaned round it. "Excuse me," she said to the blonde who'd come into the shop. "I don't suppose I could ask your advice for a moment?"

Lis' Rose

Jack was sitting in a corner of the lobby, back against the wall and well away from the windows. There was a cup of coffee and glass of water in front of him, both untouched. His head was leaned back against the wall, and he was completely lost in thought. He stayed that way until he spotted Rose. Then he blinked a couple of times and smiled, slightly. "Hey, darling."

Becky's Five

Rose went to get some lunch at a cafe, stopped at peered at the young looking man in a beige cricket outfit, and celery on his lapel sit out front. Walked up to him asking, "Excuse me, but would you be the Doctor?"

Had to be. The celery.

The Doctor had been back to his TARDIS and had finally caught up with Jack again. They'd talked a bit about John and the Master and Jamie, but Jack hadn't really been much help. He'd just kept saying he needed to get to know the Master like the Doctor had got to know John - which worried the Doctor rather. They at least hadn't quarrelled this time, though.

In the end, he left Jack to his own devices and headed out into the town again. Stopped at a little ice-cream shop and got the biggest ice-cream sundae he could find. Sat down and started to eat it.

Immediate after exiting this thread.

Rose did leave the strange scene of that other Jack and Doctor ripping into each other when she was sent, when she was told to, more than a little upset. Oh, she'd seen each of her friends argue heatedly before, argued with each them herself, but there was a viscous undertone to it all that she didn't like. Like something had been broken between that all three of them that might not be fixable.

She walked quickly in the direction of the TARDIS, wondering who else might recognize her here, whose face she wouldn't know.

The Doctor was hovering somewhere between irrationally vaguely irritated and relieved that seeing Jack seemed to have flipped something one in the Master that made him bother to eat and sleep properly. Most of the irritation was at himself, for not manging it earlier, but some at the Master for not responding to the Doctor worrying about him. Well, he was smart enough not to say anything about to the Master about it, and be happy he looked better already.

He milled around the town, pondering how long they might be here, and what they could do to occupy themselves. He was frankly not very interested in finding a way home at the moment. Jamie's father might be right, that they were here for a reason.

Simple, easy, good fun would be setting up some experiments to run with Rose. And if he could get the Master involved, wonderful. He peered into a shop, contemplating lab supplies.

Rose

Jack was walking into the console room for the interior of the TARDIS, sonic screwdriver in hand and headed straight for the console. When the door opened and Rose walked in he made an unattractive, startled sound and stared for a second. "...Rose."

Rose wandered back towards the hotel, her heart hurting for her Doctor, who might well know, having been here before, that there might have been a way to save Gallifrey, if he'd gotten lucky. For the Koschei she had met and his Doctor, for being seperated from each other - no matter how worthy the cause. Thinking about possibilities she liked even less.

So lost in thought, she nearly bumped into someone, going into the hotel door.

"Oh, sorry! Should look where I'm going," she apologized.

Rose left the hotel, hand in her black leather jacket. She'd hadn't forgotten the Doctor's warning that certain people might be dangerous, but she reasoned this place wasn't actually any more dangerous any other place they landed. Maybe safer. Time to look around.

"The weather's pretty much perfect, at least?" she said casually to the next person her path crossed.

"...Let him stew for a minutes. We'll just keep a leisurely pace, and his curiosity will get the better of him," the Doctor finished, trying to put on a brave face for his companion before he processed they were in fact in a hotel lobby. He staggered for a moment as over four months of memories came rushing back.

Rose tried to hold him up, looking very worried, and steered him over to a chair. "Doctor, are you all right?"

"Oh, my head," the Doctor groaned as he sat, hands in his hair.

"We're not where we were a second ago," Rose whispered to him. "Transmat?"

He lifted his head, eyes wide. "Something a little stranger than that, Rose."
