He had settled a bit since he'd last seen Eric -- lost some of the sadness and most of the bitterness that he unconsciously projected, and regained some of his poise and confidence. He rapped sharply at Eric's door and waited patiently for it to be open, before saying simply: "Are you occupied?"

Eric's French was very, very rusty, to say the least, but his hearing was excellent and Asher's tone was unmistakable, even if he did not understand the words. He stilled, then turned around and was standing in front of Asher the next instant, movement too fast for a human eye to have followed.

"Do not forget I am your elder, youngling," he called him in Swedish. His tone was oddly intimate, and he was bending his head to speak very close to Asher. "If you have any complaints with me, voice them now. But do not disrespect me." The last words were much sharper than the rest.

Asher was chaffing and badly under suddenly finding himself far younger -- far-- younger than most of those he interacted with.

The demand for respect, the tone and reasonable as it was, combined with the sudden movement and having Eric snapping in his face, sent Asher right over the metaphorical edge and he just flat out snarled in Eric's face, fangs bared, and about as far from respectful as he was speech.

His flight or fight reaction shorted directly to fight. Which was going to go over really, really well.

Eric never saw any need for small talk, and he was content to walk in silence, all the way to the bar. The works were in progress, but it already looked a lot more like what he had in mind. Couches and armchairs rather than chairs, for one thing, and a private booth that would be reserved for him and any guests he might have.

"This world saw fit to lead me to this place," he said as he unlocked the door. A public place; Asher would need no further invitation than the open door.
