Daniel picked up the shot glass and stared at it. He checked it over to make sure all the alcohol was out of it before he laid its side. With a flick on his index finger, Daniel sent the shot glass rolling across the uneven table surface, waiting for it to fall over the edge and break into a million different pieces. Much like he heart did when Jack had told him Sam was marrying Carson Beckett. Obviously Sam hated him and Carson was the better man - a thought that made his chest tighten.
"Daniel! Dannniiieeeellll! Are you listening to me?"
Snapping to attention, Daniel gazed across the table at Caitlin and frowned when she clumsily caught the shot glass before it rolled off. "What?" he asked.
"We should go you-know-where and dial the you-know-what and go you-know-where," Caitlin whispered rather loudly, her hands clenched around the bottle of whiskey they'd been drinking from.
"Wha..? Why would we need to go you-know-where if we're already there?"
The two of themm stared at each other for a long moment before Caitlin held the bottle up. "We should give this to Carson and Sam as a wedding present. We should go see them tonight," she said as she gave him a dimpled grin.
Daniel had to admit it was a pretty good idea. Showing Sam he was all right with her marrying someone else by giving her an almost empty bottle of whiskey was brilliant. Plus, it beat sitting in a dirty bar in the middle of Colorado Springs. "Lets do it!" he exclaimed before he stumbled out of his chair.
Giggling, Caitlin stood and put her jacket on. "Ready!" she said as she sat her stocking cap on top of her head.
Moving over to her, Daniel pulled her stocking all the way down and over her eyes. Jack would kill him if he caused Caitlin to get sick.
"Oh no! Daniel! The whiskey made me go blind!" Caitlin cried as she started to grope at thin air.
Daniel snorted and pulled her cap up so her eyes were no longer covered. "Lets go," he said as Caitlin grabbed the whiskey and started toward the door.
Getting a taxi wasn't that hard and soon they were on their way to the SGC. Luckily for them, it was late at night and the place was quiet. They easily got in and when they got to the control room, a half-asleep Walter believed their story about being called by Landry and having to go to Atlantis. He opened the iris and dialed the Gate and, after watching Caitlin trip up the ramp a few times, Daniel and her were going through the event horizon.
"Welcome to Atlantis, Doctor Jackson," Caitlin said before she waved toward the steps that led to Operations. "Come on. Chuck will call them for us."
"It's really bright here," Daniel commented before they started up the long flight of stairs. When they got to the top, Chuck looked horrified. "Chris, I need I speak to Colonel Carter."
"Chuck," Caitlin corrected him.
"That's what I said," Daniel said before he looked at Chuck again.
Reaching up, Chuck tapped his headset. "Colonel Carter? Doctor O'Neill and some guy just came through the Gate from the SGC and would like to speak to you."
Daniel leaned over Chuck and cleanred his throat. "Saaammm! It's me, Daniel! Caitlin and I heard you were getting married so we went to a bar and drank and now we're here to give you a wedding present! Wait a minute, Caitlin is drinking your wedding present! Stop that!" he scolded.
"Sorry," Caitlin said before she screwed the cap back on.
"We'll be here waiting for you, Sam!" Daniel yelled into Chuck's headset. Chuck then turned away to finish his conversation with Sam.
"You gotta promise me something, Daniel," Caitlin said as she leaned against one of the control panels. It instantly lit up and she jumped. "What the hell...?"
"Oh great! You broke something! Sam's going to be mad now!"
"Actually, it lit up because she has the ATA gene," Chuck explained before taking a deep breath. "And Colonel Carter is on her way."
