Moving on after losing a friend

Sam stood in front of the Gate after everyone had left following Janet's memorial, wiping her eyes and taking a deep breath. She still wasn't sure how she had managed to get through the eulogy. Probably because Teal'c's words had been the truth, and that was the best way she knew to honor her best friend.

"God, I'm going to miss you, Janet," she said softly.

She knew that she needed to get out of there. Where, she wasn't sure. Just somewhere.

So she headed out of the Gate room and went down to the quarters she had there for when she needed to stay overnight at Command and changed out of her uniform. Once she had put on her civvies, she grabbed her bag and car keys. At the very least, she decided, she was going to spend the night away, no matter what else she did.

Leaving her quarters, she head toward the elevator. Before she got there, however, she found herself taking a detour to Daniel's lab. He was the one person she really hadn't talked to, and he was the one who had been there.

When she arrived, she looked in, and sure enough, he was there. Like she did, he tended to go hide in his lab when bad things happened, just to have something besides the badness to concentrate on.

"Hey," she said softly, slipping inside and walking over. She rested her hand on his shoulder. "How are you doing?"
