Sam laughed softly when Cait pulled her into a tight hug and wrapped her arms around her to return it. She was glad that she was able to offer some comfort to her friend. So much had changed for her, she knew. And while she wasn't able to help her in that regard since even though Sam herself had been through changes herself thanks to external influences, she had never been through something on this scale, she was glad that she could at least do this for her.
"It's okay," she told her. "I can understand."
Just then, Cait brought up the IOA, and Sam sighed, running her hand through her hair.
"No...the IOA don't," she admitted. "I wasn't sure how they would react, and I knew you had enough to deal with, so I was putting it off as long as I could. But you know what? Screw Woosley, and screw the IOA. No matter what it takes, we're going to get your mother-in-law here to see her son."
She inclined her head back in the direction of Operations. "Want to come with me while I talk to General Landry about it? I'm supposed to calling through for a check-in here in a bit, and...it might actually help if you're there in case he has any questions."
