Kyri smiled at Evan and sat down. Between him telling his nephew he could stop hitting on him and the news that she was pregnant, she could see that Andrew was starting to lose some of his interest. Taking the bowl of ice cream that Anna handed her, she thanked her and set it down on the table. Looking over at Evan, she opened her mouth when he mentioned having to protect a daughter from boys like Andrew but was cut off by Marie.
"Wait...what?" she said with a laugh. She raised her eyebrows in amusement, feeling his embarrassment. A number of things she could say came to mind, but she decided that none of them were appropriate in front of children. So instead, she squeezed his hand under the table and leaned over to kiss him softly. "It's okay. I have a feeling that any daughter of ours could take care of herself quite well."
She suddenly realized that she had no idea whether their child would inherit the Lykaios ability to transform, but she knew that growing up on Atlantis, she would be smart and be taught a lot. And that was important.
She then looked over at Marie, a warm feeling bubbling up inside her. She really was amazed at the way she had been accepted. First on Atlantis, now by her husband's family. She wished that she could tell them the truth about who she was, but she knew that wasn't possible. At least not now.
"Thank you," she said, resting her hand over her stomach. "I couldn't ask for a better family for our child."
Marie grinned. "You'll have to promise to come home more often too. I know you're involved in something really important for the Air Force, Evan, but I'm sure they can spare you a bit more often to see your family. Especially once you have a child."
