Evan looked up from his tablet and over at Bates. The two of them had just finished a quick meeting with the security team and were now killing time before Evan had to go meet with Vega and Stackhouse about the position on his team. He wished he could give it to both of them, but it wasn't possible. "She has a mouth on her. Not to me, of course, but she likes to tease the scientists and doctors," he said, shaking his head. "I've had to tell her to tone it down because some of them didn't want to deal with us."
"But she's good at what she does," Bates pointed out.
Evan sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. He knew Bates was right, which was why he was giving the spot to her and not Stackhouse. Luckily, Landry had offered a position at the SGC for Stackhouse. It almost made what Evan had to do a little better. "True," he finally said before he turned off his tablet. "I need to go meet with them now."
"Good luck," Bates said as Evan stood.
"Thanks," he said before walking out of the room.
The meeting with Vega and Stackhouse went better than Evan thought it would. Stackhouse seemed to understand why he was being sent back to Earth, and Vega didn't have any smart ass remarks. Evan was glad for that. He gave Stackhouse his transfer papers, and wished him luck. He was about to stand up when he heard Kyri's voice ring in his head.
I'm actually finished, he told her, hoping what ever she wanted to talk about wasn't bad news.
Picking up his tablet, he told Vega that she would be reporting to Jack until Evan returned from his visit to Earth. He walked out of the room and closed his eyes, sensing Kyri was in the infimary. He broke out into a job and when he ran in, he looked at his wife. "What's wrong? Did something happened?" he asked as he hurried over to her.
