"This really hurts, Sir."
Evan found himself rolling his eyes as Doctor Lee checked out Stackhouse's smashed hand. He was a good team member, and a hard worker, but there were times when Evan wondered how the other man had even gotten through basic with the Marines. "It's your own fault, Stackhouse," he pointed out before crossing his arms over his chest. They had been helping with the reconstruction of the labs, and Stackhouse had dropped a crate on his own hand. "You're there to work, not flirt. Besides, you should be counting yourself lucky. If Ronon ever finds out you were hitting on Max, he'll beat you to death with his sticks and then shoot you with his gun."
Stackhouse's eyes widened in fear. "I wasn't hitting on Doctor Pace! I was just talking to her," he said.
"He's going to need surgery," Doctor Lee said. "I'll need to set it with some pins. It's pretty routine and he should be able to use his hand again in about eight weeks."
Sighing, Evan roughly rubbed the bottom of his face. Eight weeks was a long time to be missing a member of his team. He would have to find someone to replace him. The only one he could think of was Vega, but he would have to talk to Sam and John in the morning about having her moved from security to his team. "Well, I'll stop by in the morning to see how you're doing," he said as he clapped the man's shoulder. "Get some rest."
He walked out of the infirmary, and made a quick call to Sam, knowing John was talking some time off to help Fred prep for their daughter's birth. After making plans to meet with her in the morning, Evan broke the link and started for the family living area. When he stepped off the transporter, he almost ran into Jack, who was holding Shaun in his arms.
"Sorry," he said. He looked down at the baby in the older man's arms and grinned. "He's gotten big."
Jack gave Evan a proud smile and nodded. "Doctor Lee says he's at the developmental stage of a four-week-old baby that was born on time, and not early," he said, shaking his head. "I think this city does to the kids. Not that I care. I'm glad to have a healthy grandson. Even if I did have to sneak him out of his bassinet while his parents were bickering about his nursery. Well, Rodney was bickering, while Katie and Carson seemed to be looking for something to hit him with."
Evan snorted and shook his head. Carson, Caitlin, and Rodney were pretty amusing to watch when Rodney got his boxers in a bunch. "So how are the wedding plans coming?" he asked.
"Next month. We wanted to wait until the next Sheppard is born before we have it," Jack explained as he started to slowly rock Shaun in his arms. "When are you and Kyri going to have a ragrat of your own?"
Evan shrugged. "We haven't really talked about it," he said before smiling. "Speaking of...I'll see the two of you later. I have a beautiful wife waiting for me."
After saying goodbye to Jack and Shaun, Evan hurried to the quarters he shared with Kyri. When he walked in, he shrugged off his jacket. "Kyri?"
