Jack was dead? Blinking as her eyes suddenly teared up, Sam nodded and swallowed hard at the knot in her throat. She knew it was silly - after all, Jack was still alive in her reality - but there was still something about the fact that one of the people she considered her best friends was dead here. Especially when the others were alive and well.
"I won't say a word," she said softly, wondering if she should even mention that she was an Air Force officer. Although Daniel didn't seem to hate the fact that he was working for the government, so maybe...
When John came in, however, and Daniel told him what was going on, she saw the look of disbelief on his face.
"What? I mean, I know Fred's been working on proving they exist, but you're really saying that this woman--?"
Reaching over, Sam picked up the picture she had given Daniel and held it to John. When he saw it, his eyes widened, and he sat down in the other chair.
"Right. So...alternate reality."
She nodded. "Alternate reality. Where you're an Air Force officer and not a...?"
"Math professor." John looked over at Daniel and mouthed, "Air Force officer?"
"You're still married to Fred, though."
That made him grin. "Well, good. Would hate to think I married someone like...oh, Nancy."
Sam almost choked out a laugh but managed to suppress it.
"Tell you what. The kids are spending this afternoon and evening with Grandpa and Grandma since they're in town and they apparently want some uninterrupted spoiling time. Why don't you two come over, and we can discuss all of...this...over some pizza and a lot of beer."
