"Thanks," Fred said when her husband said the food smelled good. "We thought we would have one of your favorites."
Once John had Chase in his highchair, Fred put his bib on him, laughing when Chase pouted a little. But his pout disappeared when she sat a bowl of spaghetti in front of him. Chase picked up his little fork and started to eat, not caring if some of it was sticking on his face.
"How was school, sweetie?" Fred asked as she handed a bowl of spaghetti to Alex.
"Good! Michaela came by and showed us pictures of the equintos they found!" Alex happily said before she took a bite of her spaghetti. "Callie asked if we could have them for pets but Michaela said they're wild animals and we shouldn't make wild animals into pets. And then we went to have lunch and we saw Uncle Evan kissing Michaela. They were trying to hide in that one spot Daddy and you hide in when you're trying not to get caught but we saw them!"
"Wow," Fred said with a small laugh before she glanced at John. So that was why Evan seemed so happy lately. "Sounds like you had a full day."
"I did!" Alex said with a nod.
"How about you, little man? Have a good day?" Fred asked as she reached over and pulled a spaghetti noodle out of his hair.
"Yes!" Chase merely said before he went back to his spaghetti.
Shaking her head, Fred looked over at John and smiled. "How about you, Colonel?" she asked as she ran her foot up his leg. "Have a good day?"
