Carson enjoyed being able to spend time with his family in Vancouver. It had been wonderful and relaxing, and he loved seeing the girls react to everything they saw. While they were there, he called his mum in Scotland so she could talk to Rodney and hear their news about the baby. It wasn't the same as actually being the same room to tell her, but he was still glad they had the chance.
Soon enough, it was time to go back to Atlantis.
When they walked back through the Gate, Carson wasn't surprised when their wife headed straight to her father and hugged him tight. The time in Vancouver had done her good, but he knew that she'd still have to deal with her mum's rejection for a long time. So it was good to know that her father and brother were there for her too.
What did surprise him was when Jack pulled Rodney then him into a hug.
"Always," he told his father-in-law before coughing a little when he hugged him tighter. He didn't let him go either, so he was relieved when Cait told Jack that he needed to breathe.
"Oh." Jack let him go. "Sorry."
"It's okay," he told him before looking at Cait and Rodney. "Should we drop off our belongings and then go meet Kade?"
"Well, I really should go check on the lab and--."
Carson rolled his eyes. "Oh no, you don't." He took Rodney's arm. "Come on, you."
"He said he'd be in the atrium," CT called after them.
They headed down to their quarters and dropped their luggage off before heading to the atrium where a man was standing with a young boy, looking out across the ocean. When they walked in, he turned and smiled at them.
"Hello. I'm Kade. You must be Rodney, Caitlin and Carson. It's nice to finally meet you," he said as he crossed over to them.
