Carson raised his eyebrows when Cait said that they would be getting seven inches of snow in Vancouver. He guessed it was a good thing that they had come in early; otherwise they might have been caught trying to get out of Washington had they been following their original schedule.
"It's been a long time since I've played in the snow," he said as Cait went into the bedroom to get Charlie when she woke up.
"Same here," Rodney said, shifted Erin so she could put her feet against the window sill and stand up to watch the snowfall.
Carson looked over at him. "I can't see you playing in snow, love."
"I used to. When I was younger. I'd take Jeannie out sledding to get out of the house."
Carson knew Rodney hadn't got along with his parents when he had been growing up, but he didn't know all the details. He didn't get a chance to ask before Cait came out with Charlie. He couldn't help but chuckle when Charlie thought that the snow was potato flakes and Erin corrected her. Reaching out, he took Charlie into his arms when she reached for him.
"Hello, sweetheart," he said, kissing her temple before laughing when she said she wanted snow for dinner. "I think you mean mashed potatoes."
"Tatoes!" she said, bouncing.
"She's going to be so confused," Rodney said with a laugh.
