When Jo couldn't sleep, Jo went out for a walk. At least, she went out for a walk when she didn't have her sleeping pills. The fact that she'd become addicted to them wasn't lost on her, but it was lucky because she didn't have any at all at the moment. The blonde hunter would probably head out to refill her prescription tomorrow. Thank God for doctors on the take with the hunters in the world. She was pretty sure they couldn't get by without them. Jo knew she sure couldn't, short of doubling up on the ones that weren't over the counter. By now, Joanna Beth Harvelle had been around this town and back again. She'd heard the stories... seen the people. Hell, she'd even made friends with a couple of the locals. Some of the vamps weren't even all that bad from what she'd met of them. There was a little redhead working in Merlotte's now that was a vampire, and she seemed to be the sweetest little thing on the block. Didn't keep Jo from being on guard around her, because a hungry vampire was a dangerous vampire, but it did remind her of a couple of veggie vamps she'd met awhile back. Jo might kill the evil things in the world, but it was becoming clearer and clearer to her that a handful of them were very much like people. Some were evil and some weren't. Jo had been here much longer than she thought she'd be, but she didn't mind it. It was a nice town despite all the drama that seemed to go down due to the racists Or should they be called specieists? Jo wasn't sure on that front, so she just pretty much chalked it all up to racism for the time being. There were a lot of things to think about. Too many. Sighing, the hunter ran a hand through her hair and shook her head. There were too many variables. At the moment, the little huntress had decided to go hunting in a cemetery. If there was any place to find anything nasty, a cemetery would probably be a sound bet. Especially in a place like this. So she'd locked down her daddy's knife, her own favorite knife, and a nice thick silver chain. Jo learned quick what worked and what didn't work around here. The only thing that she'd need to make sure of before she went on the offensive was whether or not the vampire (if she ran into one) was good or evil. If she ran into a demon, well, they were free game. Which was why Jo had a pistol tucked into the back of her waistband as well. No need to not be prepared. Especially after running into that bitch before. If she was the demon in question, you're damn straight she'd be getting shot, whether it could kill her or not. Maybe she'd get a nice bottle of jack and just ease into the night later. Using alcohol to sleep was better than nothing, after all. And Jo was a pro at both since being returned to Earth. |
