Eames couldn't take it anymore. He knew that Arthur cared for him. He knew that he wanted him. It showed in the things they did with each other when they were alone and the small glances that they gave when near one another in public. Sometimes Eames would pick Arthur up from the school for lunch and Arthur would often sit with him at the bar while Eames worked.
Eames no longer felt it was enough. Not when any moment Arthur visited with a friend, especially another man, Eames had to fight back the urge to go over to them and wrap his arms around the other while glaring at Arthur's guest. He wanted more. He wanted to tell Arthur how he felt. He wanted to truly make him his.
That was what brought him here, to the park, standing under a large oak tree. He'd taken the night off and had dressed nice, in a pair of black trousers and a nice deep burgundy button down shirt. He had visited a store. Not just any store but a certain kind of store. His purchase was now weighing down his pocket.
Many would think it too soon... but Eames had known Arthur for years and had wanted him for years. Now for nearly two months he'd loved him and had never said it. What if he said it now and Arthur didn't believe him? He needed to show it. Prove it.
By doing what he planned, he would do just that. He didn't care if it was impulsive. He loved Arthur and the other man deserved the very best. Maybe that wasn't Eames, but Eames was selfish and Arthur wanted him back for whatever crazy reason and so he could do this much for Arthur for the point man putting up with him all these years.
Everything set, he'd asked Maggie to tell Arthur he needed to dress up and meet him at the park, and now he waited, standing in front of the tree where he'd etched a question whose answer could change both of their lives forever.
