He really had. It wasn't that Charles wasn't in love with Felix, or that he had any reservations about his relationship with the man. He was completely confident that this thing between them was real and lasting and wonderful. He just hadn't quite expected that response to his words. As it was, it took him a moment to speak, though he made a point of projecting positive emotions so that his boyfriend (fiance?) wouldn't worry.
"Well them," he said at last, "if I'd known all it took was a terrible joke about my disability, I'd have said that sooner." He gave Felix a stern look. "Though I am a bit cross with you. We have to be at work, and you've left me no time to take advantage of you...again...for being a completely fantastic man."
He grinned. "That was a yes, by the way. And I love you too. Obviously."
