Who: Amy Pond and OPEN What: Amy has to work on the Fourth of July. Where: Radio Station When: Saturday, July 4th Warnings: None so far Status: In-Progress
Amy had to admit that she was actually loving her job at the radio station. She had no idea how fun it would be, not until she tried it and felt giddy about it for weeks. She had no doubt driven Rory crazy with talks of it all throughout dinners and even when she couldn't sleep in the middle of the night. Maybe this wasn't New York in the early 1900s, but she could definitely see herself making a life here with Rory. What more could she have possibly wanted or even needed? Well... the Doctor maybe. And River of course, but having a job and her beloved husband by her side would be enough for her here. She didn't want to tempt fate after all, as it was kind enough to spare them of the wrath of the Weeping Angels this time.
Still, Amy was a bit peeved today as she sat at the controls and scrolled through sound bites of her work. It was the Fourth of July, a traditional American holiday, and nearly everyone was at home "celebrating" or whatever it was that Americans did. Barbecue, she'd heard several times already and fireworks no doubt. And while Amy had simply no allegiance to the American way of life (not yet anyway), she still would have preferred to have gotten the day off today like everyone else. She supposed there were a lot of factors in that, one being that she was still relatively new, and they did actually need someone to be at the station if only for a little while. They weren't actually broadcasting any special programs today, but the constant feed of music still had to be running. A radio station was nothing if it had dead air, even for a second.
With a sigh, Amy rolled over in her chair to another monitor and began the editing process for a clip. There might have been a few people still at the station, but for the most part, Amy was alone in her little studio. Oh, how she missed Rory. Of course, she'd only just seen him back at home, but it never seemed to be enough. When they traveled with the Doctor, Rory was always with her, and to be away from him only for a few hours was almost unbearable. Would they ever be able to live out normal lives if she couldn't stand to be without him during her day job? Well, it didn't matter, because she would get to see him soon. All she had to do was get this little piece edited up, and she was good to go. That easily put a smile on her face.
