Sam had spent the last two days in a hazy, contented bubble. The sort of intoxicated feeling hadn't really left him since he'd been with Gretel the other night and with no imminent apocalypse or other big bad to deal with in Storybrooke he had allowed himself to savour that feeling. Things were definitely looking up for Sam Winchester, definitely a vast improvement on the way things were in his own reality.
He hadn't seen Gretel since that night but he'd talked to her and he knew that with Hansel's arrival he wasn't likely to see much of her as she tried to help her brother make the adjustment to popping up 300 years in your future. He was prepared for that, though not quite so prepared for just how much he actually yearned to see her. If he thought about it he would realise he was falling for her, and pretty quickly at that.
Sam hadn't needed to come in to work today. He had no scheduled lessons to teach, though there was always the chance for overtime if anyone happened to walk in off the street. He took advantage of the downtime to catch up on some administrative work, filling out evaluations, ordering stock and the like. He had just finished that and was about to head out to one of the ranges when he caught sight of Gretel walking towards the building, her brother walking close beside her. He smiled to himself, partly at the sight of her, partly at the sight of her in those clothes. He had to admit that seeing her in them now held a little more allure for him than that first day he'd met her.
