Bucky was developing a habit of going on things that looked like dates but weren't really dates. He wasn't sure where this fell into the grand scheme of things but, he supposed, it probably didn't matter. It could go either way and this was only the first step towards something bigger. He told himself that he wouldn't think of it in terms of one thing or another until there was evidence of what it was. Steve seemed open to the idea of things moving beyond a simple friendship but slightly hesitant on committing to the idea. They could see where things went for them. The only thing Bucky was sure of at the moment was that he missed hanging out with Steve and that he was happier when the other man was around. That was enough. He hadn't realized it in the beginning but he realized it now. Steve made him happy and that was all that really mattered. Picking up his room a little, Bucky made sure the place looked presentable. Steve probably remembered what it was like when they lived together. The way Bucky occasionally dropped his jackets or shirts on the floor after a long day of work. He used to be really nervous about leaving a mess. He'd kept his room incredibly tidy and in perfect order. He made sure nothing was personalized. When he was given a room in Hydra it was never actually his room. Pierce would get upset if he made a mess or moved anything too much. He was sure that would be the case here but, now, he was a little more comfortable in his surroundings. He felt at ease. He was able to drop things on the floor and clean them at his leisure. He was able to move stuff around if he didn't like the placement. He was able to personalize it all. He'd done his best to do just that. He had journals he wrote reminders to himself in on a desk. He had books he was reading or DVD's he was watching. There were CD's lying around too but he hadn't really listened to any of them. There was also a dog bed close to his own where Thor slept at night and a few dog toys scattered near her bed. She wasn't in the room which meant she was off bugging Grant or trying to play with a cat who didn't want any of it. It took him a moment to set everything up with the television and the Netflix account. While he'd hoped to find familiar movies on Netflix he couldn't find anything that had been made earlier than the 50's. It meant the two of them would have to look through newer movies and see what they could agree on. If they could agree. They might wind up arguing but he was looking forward to that. The other Steves hadn't argued with him. They sort of gave him free reign and, yes, it had been appreciated but it hadn't felt right. Hearing the doorbell ring (and Thor bark excitedly as a result) he moved towards the door to open it. He hadn't told Clint and Grant that Steve was coming over but he doubted that would be a problem. He smiled when he opened the door and took a step back. "Welcome to our house. I can show you around or we can just head to my room and try to decide on what we're going watch and snack on." There was another excited bark, followed by the sound of four paws running down the hall before Thor appeared, wagging her tail as she ran towards Steve. "And that's Thor. Her name wasn't supposed to be Thor but Clint wouldn't stop calling her that." |
